I'm watching WNTW and there is a woman on here w/super long hair that she insisted wouldn't be cut by him. Now, I agree that the length of her hair doesn't create the best line and all of that. Of course Nick says she needs to get "a little" cut off b/c it is "damaged". He pulls up about 6 inches of her hair and says that needs to be cut. If somene put a gun to my head and forced me to say how much of her hair was even remotely damaged (without the gun, I would say none, mind you), I would say 1inch, maybe 1.5 and give them 2 inches just to round off. But 2 inches wouldn't stop her from looking like Rapunzel and it wouldn't make Nick happy. So then Nick says "well, I'm sorry then, there's nothing I can do except put your hair in a bun". WHAT???!!! . What about all of that not really coloring coloring that you like to do to people unnecessarly, Nick? So he literally puts her hair in a bun--but we don't get to see that b/c I gues that's not important and next they show the makeup.
Nick is incompetent in my eyes. I know many of you guys disagree but damn, why not have just put a paper bag on her head and send her off for makeup if he was going to do that? I agreed w/him that the hair was too long. But don't start lying to the girl and saying that she has 6 inches of damaged hair, and don't say ish like "there's nothing I can do except put your hair in a bun" and give up on her. If he had any KIND OF TALENT AS A HAIRDRESSER, he could've done a faux bob like Sistaslick used to do. (ETA: Not necessarily a short bob but jus something to hide the length. And if he'd curled it, it would've been even easier to do) That *might* have shown the girl "oh, look how good my hair looks shorter, I'm ready to go for getting it cut now", or even curled her hair--but I forget he probably only knows how to blow dry . And she had that ashy blonde type of color that he could've done a lot of things with in terms of coloring. I am assuming he didn't even bring color up and not that she refused b/c any refusal on her part wasn't aired.
Now, I don't know who styled her hair when she was modeling her new clothes and makeup to Clint and Stacy after that but I'm sure it wasn't Nick b/c "there' snothing he can do except put it in a bun" and her hair was down--and it looked healthy. Not a hint of damage.Too long, yes, but not unhealthy-looking at all.
I just can't stand all of the lying and trying to make the client feel bad for his inadequacies. Just be honest and say you don't know what to do except cut, Nick.
