It is confirmed for me. Nick can't do anything but cut hair

I'm watching WNTW and there is a woman on here w/super long hair that she insisted wouldn't be cut by him. Now, I agree that the length of her hair doesn't create the best line and all of that. Of course Nick says she needs to get "a little" cut off b/c it is "damaged". He pulls up about 6 inches of her hair and says that needs to be cut. If somene put a gun to my head and forced me to say how much of her hair was even remotely damaged (without the gun, I would say none, mind you), I would say 1inch, maybe 1.5 and give them 2 inches just to round off. But 2 inches wouldn't stop her from looking like Rapunzel and it wouldn't make Nick happy. So then Nick says "well, I'm sorry then, there's nothing I can do except put your hair in a bun". WHAT???!!! . What about all of that not really coloring coloring that you like to do to people unnecessarly, Nick? So he literally puts her hair in a bun--but we don't get to see that b/c I gues that's not important and next they show the makeup.

Nick is incompetent in my eyes. I know many of you guys disagree but damn, why not have just put a paper bag on her head and send her off for makeup if he was going to do that? I agreed w/him that the hair was too long. But don't start lying to the girl and saying that she has 6 inches of damaged hair, and don't say ish like "there's nothing I can do except put your hair in a bun" and give up on her. If he had any KIND OF TALENT AS A HAIRDRESSER, he could've done a faux bob like Sistaslick used to do. (ETA: Not necessarily a short bob but jus something to hide the length. And if he'd curled it, it would've been even easier to do) That *might* have shown the girl "oh, look how good my hair looks shorter, I'm ready to go for getting it cut now", or even curled her hair--but I forget he probably only knows how to blow dry  . And she had that ashy blonde type of color that he could've done a lot of things with in terms of coloring. I am assuming he didn't even bring color up and not that she refused b/c any refusal on her part wasn't aired.

Now, I don't know who styled her hair when she was modeling her new clothes and makeup to Clint and Stacy after that but I'm sure it wasn't Nick b/c "there' snothing he can do except put it in a bun" and her hair was down--and it looked healthy. Not a hint of damage.Too long, yes, but not unhealthy-looking at all.

I just can't stand all of the lying and trying to make the client feel bad for his inadequacies. Just be honest and say you don't know what to do except cut, Nick.

I agree and alot of those makeover shows do that same thing. If your hair is long, they will cut it. If you have short hair, they will give you extentions.
I think they are focused more on a dramatic effect instead of what's healthy or flattering.

Very well said. This is exactly what I was thinking.

I was watching Tease on Oxygen today and I was thinking the same thing. Every time i watch make over shows they gotta cut the hair. I would not want them cutting in my hair either. If you are a true stylist you can do something creative with EVERY length of hair

ThanK YOU, I have been thinkin this same thing all along and not just about Nick but all of these makeover shows are just obsessed with CUTTING, and it really pisses me off!!,, i mean last time i checked long hair was beautiful LOL,, they act as if long has is some ugly and passe thing for a woman and that it should be cut short and cut in a very styled fashion that would be hard to keep up,, I also hate how if u have thick hair they razor it to ensure youll have damaged hair for years to come lol, I would never let any of these scissor happy jerks near my head

I saw that episode. I thought that chick was crazy and her hair looked terrible! Like a long, thin, ratty, blanket she throws over herself (and her new clothes). When she said she didn't want her hair cut I stopped and deleted the episode (it was on the DVR).

The thing that irritated me the most was that she nominated herself. She doesn't wear makeup, she didn't want her hair cut or colored and she wanted to keep half of her ratty, ugly clothes. WTH! Why did she nominate herself? I was mad that they even aired it. That one should have gone to the scrap yard. It was a complete waste of time. I sat and watched 45 minutes to see her leave almost exactly the same way she came. This isn't like going to the corner salon on a Tuesday after work. It's a MAKEOVER show. If you don't want to change stay at home and certainly don't nominate yourself. Grrr!

ETA: I'd let nick cut my hair anyday.

I totally agree. Could not have said it better.

Nick seems to be one of those stylist where it is his way or the highway. Even if her hair is damaged he could have at least curled her hair to hide some of the damage. He could even have compromised and said ok, we'll take 2 inches off and go from there. Or he could have showed her some nice styles that would have flattered her to get her to change her mind. I mean SOMETHING. But a bun? Now come on now.
