Is Your MSM Contaminated or Petroleum-based?

Over the weekend, I chatted with a friend to whom I mentioned that I regularly used 4,000 mg of MSM primarily for hair growth. He cautioned me that a lot of MSM comes from China where there is no guarantee of quality, purity or freedom from contamination! Further, the stuff could be derived from petroleum! I said "WHAT???"

Anywho, I regularly get mine from http://www.msm-msm.com/index.html, and the site has a look and feel of "heck these folks are getting the best stuff". I order 4 bottles of the linguisil MSM at a time.

After my little chat, I started to really read about what I have been purchasing these last few years and could not find anything about where the stuff came from and what was in it! So I emailed them and here's what they said:

Our OptiMSM and Lignisul MSM is made in the US. Our animal MSM is made in China. The animal MSM uses the chemical source while the two US brands may use either depending on what's available at the time. :ohwell:Although they prefer to use the lignan-based (pine tree) source, they do also use the chemical source. We do not know which lots use which.:perplexed

Indeed my Linguisil may contain petrochemicals! Yikes!

Anyway, I wanted to warn you guys about this. I strongly urge you to inquire where the product comes from and what it's made of.

Next time I order I will be throwing my business to a new place I found http://utahnaturalsolutions.com/pain/ where the MSM is manufactured in US and in pine tree derived. The price point seems a bit higher but like a well trained LHCF sista I am going to contact them to see if I can haggle to see if I can get a bulk purchase deal.

Anyway, I know that you guys are really into natural stuff to enhance our hair. Just looking out for ya.

Oh and by the way, I DO NOT BENEFIT FINANCIALLY FROM THIS, I AM A CONSUMER (HOPEFULLY MORE INFORMED NOW) JUST LIKE ALL YA'LL.

ALSO, I AM NOT CHINA-BASHING. THEY JUST HAVE DIFFERENT REGULATORY STANDARDS THERE.

You might want to review this article before making any decision about this brand. I used it and was shocked when I read this piece.

I have since found the lab which produces msm according to Dr. Jacobs standards...just info..no money for me either.

Humans ain't nothin' but lab rats to the chem companies, so there's no need to be :ohwell:...even Lignisul MSM has heavy metals < 10.0 ppm ....small amount but it's
there...we breathe, eat, wear and sleep chems daily...

It is beneficial to seek out the least of chemical alterations which will directly affect one's biological mechanism.

Take Care

:perplexed I purchased the DistilPure brand over a year ago... :wallbash: The website is VERY deceptive by stating that their product is 100% MSM (pure crystal flakes with no fillers or additives and from a natural pine tree source) :nono:

www.distilpuremsm.com

Who can we trust with these half truths or whole lies about the purity of their products ??? :ohwell:

Yeah if you count not having regulatory standards as "different." :look: Now I'm bummed that I didn't read this BEFORE I bought some MSM from Vitamin Shoppe. Damn and it cost me $25.
