Is your man obsessed with braids and locs?

My bf has a thing for women with braids and locs. I mean it's almost like a fetish for him. When I tell him that I am going to get my hair done...he is always like "Oooo...are you going to do it in those twist like you had before?" Mind you I had some kinky twist put in once! During the summer of 2003 and he has never forgotten them. He is constantly telling me that I should get my hair like that again....he thinks women with locs are sexy...he loves braided extentions.

I am wearing braids right now and have been for the last two weeks. I want to do the baggy challenge so I told him I was going to take my braids out this weekend and get a touch up. He was horrified! No not so soon! It's only been a little while...well if you take them out when will you put them back in and this time can you make them shorter? Like the ones you had before?" (He is talking about the kinky twists.)

I'm starting to think he is some kind of pervert with a braid fetish. When I meet him my hair was relaxed but he doesn't care for relaxed hair. I had an afro and he didn't care for that either....he said my hair felt like astro turf /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

But anytime I say I am getting braids he is all ready to pick out the color and length...And he won't stop talking about those dang kinky twists...I may have to wear them again for a while just to make him happy. And I may have to find a place that does fake locs cuz I am not going to permanently loc my hair.

But I am curious am I the only one out there with a braid, loc and twist loving man?

Here is a link to the twists.

I will put the pic of my kinky twists in my fotki when I go home tonight.

Falon, your boyfriend is a riot but I think it's cute that he likes a particular hairstyle on you that much. I couldn't find the braids in your folder but those twists are pretty. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

A few years ago I dated a guy who one day asked me out of the blue, "Do you ever think about getting braids? On some people they look really good but on some people they look really bad."

At the time, I did not know much about braids and wrongly thought that women usually got them when they had trouble growing their hair. I have since learned better, of course, but my sister and niece got them mainly for that purpose. So, I simply told him that was what I thought and that, no, I had never thought about getting them.

My hair is thick and healthy, and was most likely lower-back to waist-length then, so I was really confused by his question (based of my understanding of braids at the time). I especially thought his last sentence was weird because I didn't know if he was saying he thought I would look good or bad with braids, or if he wished I had them or not. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I wasn't interested in asking him any follow-up questions and he never brought it up again.

This was the same guy I've mentioned on here before who, after dating me for well over a year, suddenly asked if my hair was real and "grew out of my head." So, maybe he assumed I had a weave and didn't like the idea of that and thought it would be more 'acceptable' for me to have braids. I really don't know what was going through his head.

/images/graemlins/laugh.gif @ peverted braid fetish.

I love those twists and you are wearing those braids /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Oh, and no, not my SO--but he does have a thing for TWAs. Oh well /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Okay now I see your braids! They look beautiful and so versatile, like you can style them many different ways! /images/graemlins/smile.gif They looked just like your loose hair to me in the little thumbnail pics because I was not paying enough attention to the captions, I guess.

My boyfriend actually likes my hair in 2-strand twists or braids, anything but locks! I want to lock my hair, maybe when I'm tired of doing it, like 40 years old or something. LOL. Everytime I tell him this, he says he rather see me with a perm than locs. /images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm going to have to keep working on him. LOL My ex boyfriend had the same fetish for braids though. I actually enjoy seeing men come to terms with extentions because I remember " back in the days" you would automatically get dissed by the guys ( and some females)if you had anything fake in your hair and braids were at the top of the list! I'm sure glad times have changed!

my current interest cant stay out of my hair. i told him the other night that is NOT going to loc if he keeps messing with it. i mean he laid there and went through just about every baby twist/loc on my head.

i was afraid he would not like the loc'ing idea..but he was cool with and obviously, he is LOVING it..lol

Your boyfriend sounds cute to me /images/graemlins/laugh.gif I have to laugh because I've never even had kinky twists but my husband thinks they are the neatest style and is always asking me if I'm going to get some done (someday I'll get them done). He does like my hair braided but is pretty happy whatever I do with it- well he'd prefer that I didn't shave it off into a really low TWA but he'd get over it even if I did that.

Hey at least he liked the twists on you- he could be asking for you to get a Beyonce blonde weave down to your butt /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

My boyfriend hates locs and braids but loves loves loves twist outs and braid outs /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif He said he hates not being about to run his fingers through my hair when they are in. I explained to him that in order to get the twist-outs and braid-outs, you have to go through braids/plaits.

Chinagem- I love the hairstyle of the woman in your avatar.

I get a lot of compliments when I sport braids.

My b/f acted the saaaame way when I got the braids I'm currently wearing. I hadn't worn braids for years. When I met him I wasn't in braids. Finally in 2002 I got these long individuals done and ever since, whenever I talk about my hair he'll always suggest getting braids and talk about "that time" I wore them b/4. I got so tired of hearing him talk about them I got them again, without telling him. The first night he saw me in them, his eyes nearly poped out of his head. Pervert? lol, I wouldn't go so far as to call him that, but I know he has good taste in things I'm sure much like your b/f, and I guess braids is one of those things that looks good on us /images/graemlins/smile.gif

well the person that I kinda talk to now begs me to never get a relaxer. I showed him my other pic of my hair long but he says her prefers my hair like it is now /images/graemlins/smile.gif When I showed him pcs of the yarn locs I plan to get next month he loved them as well.

Thanks everyone. I am still wearing the braids...week 3 now. Him liking them is making me lazy to take them out so I guess I will keep these a little while longer. Now that I hear all of the horror stories about crinkling baggies and phony ponies flying off maybe I will do CH's braid challenge instead! /images/graemlins/lachen70.gif
