Is your hair wet or dry when you trim it?

I am going to start trimming my own hair and wanted to know if I should do it when it is wet or when it is dry. I've been to a few salons that do it both ways.

I would do it dry when I trim my own hair, you get better idea of where everything hangs... Especially if you're natural!

I get trimmed at the salon and I prefer dry. My hair seems to feel/hang better. When i start to do my own trims it will probably be the same method.

I do mine straight after a relaxer and when wet as it hangs better. The weight of the water in my hair give me a better blunt cut that seems to last forever. I can't stand to trim my hair dry and never will again, plus it's tamer to get a better cut when wet.

Dry and as straight as possible. I usually add a heavy oil first to weigh it down even more. I trim right before I wash so the oil does not bother me.

I like dry but that's b'c I'm natural. Wet trims seem to be more for permed hair or people that have hair that will stretch even while wet.

I tried the wet trim method once and I still had split ends.
