mixing your relaxer with oils? I was looking at this website I came across called sizta2sizta.com and she says to "mix your relaxer with some type of oil such as olive oil (this will slow down the processing time of the relaxer and allow you more time to work until you are more comfortable self relaxing)" I have never heard of this before so I decided to ask the LHCF ladies for some info regarding this. Does anyone do this? Is it safe to do? Please give me some clarification. TIA:p

Hi, Nikkipoo, honestly I don't trust some of the ideas on that website. I have never heard of that. I also may be a little bias because her products were trash and I stopped using them. Let me know what you find on this issue.:ohwell:

Actually adding oils to relaxers does work to slow down the reaction time. I forgot the act reason why but it breaks down bonds causes reaction time to slow down. This happened to me about a month ago when I used Phyto and added oil. I should have let it stay a little longer than 25 min because of the oil I used in the mixture therefore my hair came out not as straight...it was in the middle of texlaxed and smei straight.

It is very safe to add oils to your Relaxer, I do it all the time and my hair turns out better, I even oil my hair to, I have also used some of S2S products and they were okay, But alot of ladies on here add oils and other things to their relaxer, I am even thinking of adding a dollop of honey next time LOL!!! I texlax anyway, so being underprocessed is what I Like

Boy, I can't believe this thread was bumped...I started it so long ago(I have been on this board for almost two years, boy did time fly), I have tried this and it does slow the relaxer process. I may try this again the next time I relax

Oooh Honey!?! tell me more! I am really wanting to transition to texlaxed...does the honey slow it down too?

I've never added honey to a relaxer but I just ordered the Mizani Butter Blend kit and it has honey in that relaxer. I don't think I would trust adding it myself because I don't know the proportions so I don't want to mess it up. I'll leave that up to the professionals (not to mess it up but to know the right formulations)
