I'm wondering if this photo is an example of 4b hair.

Thanks to all that responded. I'm just continuing to figure out my hair. The pics are of my hair shrunk with no product at all and no manipulation.

I agree with 4b. From what I see in myself and others 4a hair is more clumpy whereas 4b is individual curls hanging out on their own.

I didnt see evidence of clumping so I call 4b. Also 4a curls would be a bit larger (at least mine are). My point tho is that there is a clear difference in 4a/4b even when mixed in one head.

Pharmgirl247 4b hair doesn't have a curl pattern. My hair is 4b and I don't have any type of curl or spiral just random bends and curves. Your hair has really tiny coffee stirrer or pen spring (inside of a pen) sized curls. You are 4a tightly curled.

My hair is shrunk without product. By chance could you post a pic of your hair? Most people on here has said my hair is 4b with a touch of 4a at the nape.

aww how pretty. i saw someone with hair like this the other day i literally said dayum your hair is so pretty

I agree. I say 4a. I'm 4b and my hair doesn't look like that.

I think it's 4c because it's very very tight.

I think there's a 4c (I've read this) and 4d to African based hair textures.

I want to add some pic of my hair with product in the hopes this mystery can be solved. If LHCF can't solve it nobody can lol. All styles ate done without heat or stretching.
