I Am So Blessed

I'm easy going.
HI Ladies, I missed yall.

To the ladies that rollerset nightly, please tell me which product you use and please tell me how long the curls actually last. im asking becuase Im sick of blowdrying my hair every week.

Thanks so much!

I used to do the braid and curl. I braid my hair wet and got under the dryer. Take the rollers out, divide the curls and braids you got it.
I use to set my hair with leave in conditioner. (shea moisture restorative)

Thank you, but guuurl im not tryna do that every night . im talking about setting it while its dry. I do not want to wet my hair every night.

I roller set weekly and pin curl nightly when I'm not bunning. Actually my pin curl sets come out better cause I can control the curl. I pin curl around my finger for a tighter curl and use larger sections to form a loose curl for a wavy look. HTH!

Are you still juicing? I am and it's all because of you. Glad to see you back!

yes im still juicing:grin: I THINK JUICING IS WHY roller sets dont work that well for me.:ohwell:
I wont stop, cant stop, juicing

A poster had posted a while back that she used flexi rods to roller set her hair. She used 4 or 5 and had a head full of curls.

Agree. I pin curl for a few days after a roller set. My pin curls don't look as good as a fresh set but, it works well and looks almost as good as a fresh set.

That's what I do. I use the larger plum ones if i just want body and wave or a bump in my ponytail, and the purple ones for a curly updo's and such. It's not cute at night but I'm not a morning person and I need all the help I can get. :ohwell:

I just use satin rollers (for waves) or flexis (for curls) every night - takes 10 minutes.

When i was relaxed and even transitioning, I would pop in a few flexi rods at night and used Hindu Sheen to set them. Yep, old school! :yep:

Do you use any special serums or leave ins to set it or do you just curl the hair as is?

I had read about Hindu Sheen on an old thread, but it seems like it can only be purchased from Asian owned BSS, that's a no go for me.

I'm starting to roller set at night because it saves a ton of time in the morning and is healthier for the heair. I had been flat ironing and bumping the ends on low heat every morning. My hair doesn't take a lot of heat to straighten out so it doesn't seem to cause any damage.

I used to hate roller setting because when my hair was around SL it looked sooo short to me but now that it's getting close to APL it's starting to still have decent length even when roller set.

I still flat iron the hair straight on low heat the night before because after working out, it poofs.

AdoraAdora24 welcome back!

When I straighten my hair I do one of two things to keep it straight the next day. I either put my hair in a high "pineapple" ponytail at night, twist it in a bun, and in the morning my hair is still straight but has cute ringlets at the bottom. OR I pin my hair in a doobie at night, slap on a satin cap, and when I remove the bobby pins in the AM my hair is straight.

@NIN4eva

@RossBoss I used to use a tiny bit of water with serum and end papers because my ends were kind of all over the place. Now I use a little of my leave-in + serum on the entire section (depending on how my hair is feeling), but now I always without exception load my ends with serum only and roll without end papers. I've found that since I got my hair cut blunt my ends cooperate a whole lot more, so I'm leaving the end papers alone.

Thank you for this tip. and your curls last all day?

Oh no, I have fine hair and those curls will fall if I don't use setting lotion (which I hate to use). Sorry I forgot to mention that. I don't think most people have as much of a problem holding curls though. I'm just one of those people who always have. My main reason for rollersetting is maintaining consistency in texture everyday because I airdry.

I did get some Conair heated rollers last week and I must say they are fantastic. They have the velvety covering on them and they seem to be gentle on my hair. And no, lol, those curls don't last on me either without setting lotion.

Thank you. so your curls last all day with settting lotion? becuase i use lotta body sometimes and i must say, it dries my hair out, then i have to put juice on it becuase its dry, then the curls go AWAY!! catch 22? i dont know what to do.

Adora,

It's possible that you may not be diluting the lotta body enough to keep it from drying your hair out. Regardless your probably right about the juice straightening your curls...everytime i've tried juicing my curls fell flat.

Same question, do you use any serums or leave ins to set the hair?

LushLox

RossBoss yes I'm using Kerasilk Silk Fluid at the moment. I have many serums but I'm using just a dab of Chi Silk Infusion on the ends. Satin rollers and flexis are so easy; minimal time and effort to put them in but great looking hair the next morning - and the curls last all day! My type of hair maintenance! :yep:

Yeah I've given up on setting lotion, or rather, it's only for rear occasions.

I have the same problem as Adora, and I've tried so many kind/brands of setting lotion. They always leave my ends on horrible shape. The serum I use is Pure Shine Frizz Remedy Hair Treatment.
