I am working on perfecting blowing out roots after a roller set.. Its really hard.. cause i only have two hands... I use the methods the dominican use.. after...... roller setl..i take hair and put it into a clip and take one piece at a time and try and get the roots straight.... when i have little to no new grwoth i do it just like machiereamour video... how ever... when i have lots of new growth... i need to pull the hair more taught and it so hard....... any one have a good technique..i would love to know.. if i can figure this out imma have to settle for flat ironing which i dont relay want to do.

What a great question. I have perfected the rollersetting.

Its the step trying to get my roots straight that I still struggle with.

The best results I have ever had was a silk wrap, but not yet with the silky salon results.

BUMPING THIS THREAD.

I have, but I don't know how to describe it to you. :ohwell: Anyone want to come over and film me?? :lachen:

I guess the trick for me is using a teeny tiny boar bristle round brush. It has more grip to it, and the bristle are SOFT, so there is no ripping. There is a pic of it in my Fotki. That brush MCA uses only works for like the 1st 2-3 wks.

girl you gotta find a way to show us lol... pictures anything... do you have a digital camera you can film a short video on there... lol im desperate

Yeah, I have the same technique as Macherie but I just use a different brush. What part of the blowing out do you have problems with? Watch MCA's video tutorial. She doesn't go into detail on the DVD, so maybe this will help.

Thanks, Energist  I was imagining myself filming myself :nono: Very dangerous

LOL@ Energist!

Okey dokey...There is another thread around here where someone asked about the types of brushes to use when blowdrying and I posted this pic:

The 3rd brush (tiny and SOFT boar bristle) is the one I use for the roots-only blowout. I bought it as Sally's. I do the same technique as Macherieamour in her site's video tutorial on blowing out the roots. Early in the relaxer cycle I use brush #4.

I really haven't been doing this method lately. I am in the middle of perfecting my curly rollersets (and my airdry/flat ironing :sekret:)

oh ok thanks... i was just asking casue on macheriamour video... she didnt hav a lot of new growth and i know when i go to the dominicans and i have a lot of new growth theyhave to kinda pull each piece of ng kinda taut... but thanks ill try that brush though

Macherie: Thanks! its really easy once you get the hang of it. I learned this from the Dominicans but they used a lot more force and heat so I tried to show how to do it without damaging the hair.

so i guess thats why she doesnt do it the that way....

oh thats the same one was talking about that i saw.. lol

anyway you know how u go to the dominicans and take one piece at a time and pull the ng.. do you do it like that...? or do you just take the brush and comb down while you blow dry.

Yeah, I do each piece at a time, even more meticulously than Macherie does it in the video. Literally each section that had a roller in it is a separate section.

Just use lots of clips to clip the other sections out of the way. You only need your two hands ;) Just keep practicing.

thanks i will

Marcherie has a great mini tutorial on blowing the roots and it does work, so visit her site for the link to the video www.healthytextures.com

I have stalked Macherieamour's tutuorials! My prob is that I just need PRACTICE before I can honestly say that I have perfected it. I am still not as skilled with that brush! The silk wrap works, but the results I am seeking, I have yet to fully acheive it. I want that salon look. :gorgeous:

But I'll keep practicing. My rollersetting is ON POINT...but straighteing the roots and getting rid of the creases neatly is my challenge.
