I am learning to alternate my Moisturizing Deep Conditioners (Pantene Breakage Defense Mask) and a protein Deep Conditioner..But I am not sure whether the Lekair Cholesteral is a mild protein treatment or not. Can some one please clarify for me....and let me know if this product has worked for you. Cuz I got the huge $10 tub so I'mma need it to work...

Good question...I believe there was a thread about this a while back and I wanna say some people said it was a protein and others said it was a moisturizer :spinning:

I just started back using this again so I'd like to know this too...

Bumpidy doo daaa Bumpidy dayyyy!!!

C'mon ladies, help a sista out. Is it a protein conditioner, or a moisturizing conditioner:wallbash:.

Well I know it has a light protein in it. I guess I would say it's a deep con w/light protein. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

It's good stuff though. I used to use it all the time but the pj in me strayed away. After I use up some of the stuff I got I'm going back to this. It's definitely a staple. I love how super thick it is because when you add other things to it like oils and stuff it dosen't thin out into a runny mess. My hair was always soft and strong with this stuff........man, I want some now.:sad: *fights the pj urge*

It's only like a dollar something, right? Go head and get you some girl! :grin:

I use it all the time for my co-wash, its a moisturizer to me. If it is a protien, it most definitely is a very light one.

I was wondering this about my Proclaim Cholesterol Conditioner. How do you know if one is a protein or moisturizer? Is there something in the ingredients to look for?

I use it for my co-wash and then leave it on and get under a heating cap (I am trying not to become a PJ). It works fine for me, my hair loves it.

Good question here, I don't know what ingredients to look for when it comes to knowing whether something is moisturizing or is used for protein. I just basically go off of tried and true products on the board and then see if it will work for me. Trial and error is the only way I can go.

As a co-wash??? Hmmm, maybe I will have to try your method. Thanks for the tip!:grin:

I loooove my LeKair! To me it's the best of both worlds, it contains moisturizing castor and jojoba oils, aloe as well as protein in the form of hydrolzed collagen. One of my all time faves! :yep:

Lekair Cholesterol has been my staple since I was a natural head ( now relaxed). I've used their entire line: Aloe, Sheabutter, teatree oil ,carrot oil, I could go on. All keeps my hair well moisterized and soft.

I wouldn't call it a protein at ALL. It's more of a moisturizing conditioner that leaves your hair feeling durable. Not enough to be considered a protein treat IMHO.

If I were you, I'd use it consistently and see how it does for YOUR hair. If your hair takes to it like a protein treat, then use it as such. And the same thing goes for moisture.

Purified Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Stearalkonium Chloride, Mineral Oil, Cholesterol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Citric Acid Aloe Jjoba Oil, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A, D, Methyl Paraben, Proply Paraben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Yellow #5, Red #4, Fragrance.

Blue=Protein

Red=Moisurizing ingredients

There are mixed reactions as to what cholesterol is considered (protein or moisture). I consider it neither.

What she said. It has collagen as an ingredient and collagen is a protein. But I don't think light protein is something people generally need to be worried about. Besides, if you read further into the article, it talks about what happens when this protein is hydrolyzed, as it is in this product. And I don't think in general something having protein in it keeps it from also having moisturizing agents in it. It's possible to put both protein stuff and humectant stuff in the same product.

I just started using this yesterday and it's great. For $2.99 (16 oz) I can't believe that I never tried it until now.

It's moisturizing but I think it's a light protein.
