I wanted to start using hot oil treatments in my hair at least once a week. Is this too much? Also I use Keracare Humectant and sit under the dryer. Is this too much to use at one time? Is this overconditioning?

I've done both when I was relaxed and didn't have any problems. However, I usually did my hot oil first, then washed my hair and then deep conditioned with Queen Helene's creme conditioner.

I didn't know that you could over condition.

I think that would be fine.

Patience, I think that 'overconditioning' is used when the hair is so soft it is to fragile to handle.

I've never experienced it, personally, but I think it would take a LOT to overcondition.

i heard it was hard to overcondition "african american" hair. I plan on doing this over the summer. There are a lot of others on this board that do hot oil treatments with deep conditioner and they have long beautiful healthy hair.
check out CaramelHonee. (she inspired me to get back on it) and I think Supergirl started doing them again.

I deep condition with AO-GPB...and do a hot oil treatment once a week. I haven't had any problems by doing this. It leaves my hair soft and shiny.

This should be absolutely great on your hair
