Just Wondering If Blow Drying 2-3 Times A Month Would Be Too Much?I
Think My Ends Need A Little Smoothing With The Dryer:confused: TIA:)

It is for my 4b hair, but I know many ladies post here that their hair thrive in spite of the heat. I discovered that heat is one of my hair's biggest enemies and I haven't used in over 2 years. I achieved brastrap last fall and I attribute my success to, among others:

1. zero heat
2. stretching relaxers every 12 weeks
3. minimal manipulation - wearing buns most of the time

You may have to experiment to figure out whether your hair can withstand heat, and how often.

I kept my relaxed ends nice, smooth and bouncy by rollersetting and drying my hair on the cool setting on my hooded dryer -- hair came out same as if using heat. Another method if not rollersetting, is to put hair in a snug bun, making sure ends lay nice and smooth and letting hair air dry in the bun -- when taken down, hair is slightly waved with the ends smooth. HTH!

I have 4 a/b hair and i blowdry my hair every saturday, with no problem. I am always sure to add oil to my leave-ins. Right now I am using WGO and Hummectress as a leave-in and it creates AMAZING shine and softness when i blowdry. My technique is to let the hair airdry for 10mins and then put on my leave-ins. For each section, blow the ends (blower far away from your hair) for a quick second just to get them straight and then take your time to section and blowdry the roots and the length of your hair (skipping the ends).
it works for me....

I agree that it depends upon your hair. I haven't had any problems blowdrying that frequently. It's the flat ironing that I do afterward that can be problematic. :look: What if you roller set your hair and sat under the dryer? I think that that would be less damaging, especially to your ends.

I would like to tell you it's not that serious. But when I think about my hair, the reason I haven't blow dried in over two years is because of all the hair lost doing so. Maybe you can try a cool setting like some one suggested.

I would say it depends on the quality of dryer and technique.

I know with my crappy dryers at home, my hair was pulled out too much and fried because of having the heat on too long and pulling too much with the comb attachment.

I'm not skilled enough to blowdry my own hair using a brush or anything, and I could never find a GOOD blow dryer that had reliable heat flow.

As for the drying at salons, many times they have it to scorching degrees which just left my hair with a burnt out smell.

As they say on the proctor and gamble hair site, hair should be treated like a fine silk cloth. You can iron it over and over on a good setting with no problem. But if your iron's heat regulator is faulty then it will scorch the clothes and they will be forever ruined (this has happend to my mom a couple of times where the iron just burned her clothes!).

Just make sure you've got a "good setting" and good techniques with your dryer and you'll be fine! :)

Thanx For All Of Your Input Ladies:)
I Think That My Hair Thrived Better W/O Heat.I Just Wanted To Smooth My Ends A Little, But To Achieve That Smoothness I Think I'll Do The Rollersets:D Thanx Again Everyone!!
