Is a wash and go just a no no?

I am a type 4. Wash n gos give me fits of rage. I've only done 1 or 2 and that was enough to know that it is a bad idea for me. The only way I do them is if I'm in twists or braided. Never ever loose. I detest SSK's.

I also find that my hair becomes dried out easily if I WNG loose.
