I am thinking about getting some as an alternative to wig....any comments or recos on someone that can do it in the DC area? (I am going natural and would like to wear my hair this way until it grows out.)

Thanks!

You might want to make sure your hairline and temples can handle it. I am still recovering from micros a year ago.
I 2nd what she said...I have never heard of Invisibles being beneficial to the hair

thanks for the warning....I thought thou that it was the same as cornrows but they simply let some of the weave hair loose, therefore little damage?

they are put in like micro braids, but they leave strands of the hair out as they braid. They are morelikely to cut your loose hair as they work to get a smooth braiding look. They also braid the hair very tightly to keep the hair at the top from coming out. that = missing temples

Ooooh I see! I need to warn my mom and to take this into consideration. She leaves the front out and I had planned on doing that also....maybe that will save my temples :) thanks for the heads up though

I have had these twice( ) and I just can't recommend them. While they look absolutely beautiful, they are just too harsh on your hair. You are almost guaranteed at least *some* hair loss. Especially at the temples, like the ladies mentioned.

Mine were very, very tiny. You had to be standing close enough to kiss me to see that they were braids and not free flowing hair. If you do get them, PLEASE don't get them that small. :nono:

the only way i've seen them done which would not be damaging is by weaving up the majority of the hair.
leaving a portion- like a side parting as if you were doing a weave- the hair that would be left out. Is then done in a few braids at the front. To the casual observer you have micro/tree/braids- but without the damge. I have no idea what this style is called but i've seen it done- looks like tree braids with a side parting

Diagram:I tried, i really tried:(

i thought tree braids and invisible braids were the same?

Yes,

I believe they are the same thing... at least I've read that on the websites. I'm on the hunt for some in the Detroit area. They are trying to charge between $200-300 for them here:look: . I've seen them adverstised for much less in Atlanta.

I thought invisible braids is where they tie the little knot at the scalp and leave the extension hair and your hair out and tree braids is where they cornrow your natural hair and leave pieces of the extension hair out.

If that is the same thing then what I want is tree braids....anyone with comments on tree braids? help! :)
