Re: Interesting site on Miconazole Nitrate re: Hair growth

Thankx for the site. The article was great:)

Thanks for sharing that info w/ us. :wink2:

It did cross my mind that the creator of that site just may be a lurker or maybe even a member of LHCF!

Definitely! The article does mention "Forums." Hmmmm....

I'm sorry, but that site is so bogus. Obviously the creator frequents hair forums and wanted to give their opinions on some hot hair topics. Nothing wrong with that, but let's get some references for some of the "facts" that are presented (especially in some of the other sections). At least say who you are and what your intention is in creating the site. And PROOFREAD  Seriously, we're not talking typos--sentence fragments and terrible grammar all around. The site just has no credibility whatsoever and is plain shoddy.

Thanks for sharing, though

I agree about the site. It looks like one of the ones that pop up as fake search sites that only lure people in for advertising creds.

I am all for using the cream I use that contains MN, but I have seen some sites with more worthy studies on 'azole meds for hair loss, dermatitis, dandruff, etc. Most have been on ketoconazole or other 'azoles, though, not Miconazole Nitrate.

That's what made me question its validity.

Black Cardinal and Honey Dew: You ladies are certainly savvy readers.Yes, the site is interesting though albeit not credible as far as "scientifically based re: hair growth on scalp". You mentioned that there are other sites which cover the credibility area, that feature the "azoles", several of which I have posted at great length and already. I personally, like yourselves would welcome such a site that features MN. If you have more recent information than there has been in the past that would meet the credibility criteria, I know you will be two of the first ladies to post them. If I come up with anything I will do the same as I love research on hair growth. bonjour

Thank you! I was cringing at all the grammatical errors on that site. How can you even take the author seriously?

I can post a few.

1. I use DermaDoctor products for my sensitive skin. I also use her product that contains MN. It is not cheap but it is moisturizing and I love it.

Anyway, she has an article (http://www.dermadoctor.com/pages/newsletter176.asp?WID={2D8ACC6C-4756-4495-9023-F639A76C30C2}) on dandruff that lists over the counter treatments, one including Ketoconazole (Nizoral). I also heard this from my own dermatologist when I inquired about the safety of using MN on my scalp. Dr. Kunin (dermadoctor creator) actually suggest her own MN cream for facial dandruff, as well.

2. Topical application of ketoconazole stimulates hair growth in C3H/HeN mice.

3. Ketoconazole Shampoo: Effect of Long-Term Use in Androgenic Alopecia This is a PDF Document.

4. Nizoral 1% Study Shows Benefits for Androgenetic Alopecia I have seen many hair loos/growth site mention this one.

5. A Nizoral Forum

These are just a few of the sites I've referenced before I decided that it was safe for me to try using an 'azole med on my scalp.

I admit my reason for using it is only vanity and impatience. I don't have hair loss problems at all. I had to cut my hair in some very odd places after I got my matting from leaving a sew in too long. Some places were 1 inch, others were 7 inches. It was bad. I am not even trying to get extra long hair in record time, I just want those spots to catch up so that I can move on. MN is helping me accomplish that.
