The Star of a Story
I recently posted a picture of the back of my hair (my avatar) and I noticed a V shape forming:perplexed I really don't want this, but short of cutting (no trim until Dec 06) my hair even is there anything I can do to avoid this?..Or is this basically the case of certain areas growing quicker than others?

its no doubt a case of just how your hair grows.

Yea it's probably how your hair grows. There are a lot of people on here who have the V shape.

I agree. My hair looks slightly v-shaped when it's curled a certain way (mainly rollersets). It doesn't tend to look that way if it's flat ironed. But the front of my hair is slightly shorter than the back. So I know that's the reason why it appears this way.

I have a v also. At this point I'm just leaving it alone. I think that trying to keep your hair perfectly even is pointless (at least for me). Different parts grow faster at different times and by always trying to keep it even, I end up slowing down my progress.

Like the other ladies have said, this is simply how your hair grows naturally. The "V" shape is not indicative of any damage or need for a trim..... so just be aware that if you trim the "V" off, this will simply be an aesthetic decision, independent of your hair's health. The reality is that.... your hair will grow back, and probably into this "V" shape again. So I guess you have to make a decision about whether or not you want "length" with a "V".... or if you prefer a blunt, even look, which will mean that you are ultimately sacrificing some length each time the blunt cut grows out.

Thanks Kinikakes & Phoenix for your imput...especially the part about sacraficing length..So I will just learn to live with the "V"

I like the v shape, especially on very long curly hair. I saw it once on this woman who had hair past waist length and it looked beautiful! I think my hair has a v shape more because of the cut. But I wouldn't mind at all if that is just the way it grows.
