In Styler

Okay yall this is why I shouldn't be up doing a DC before work. Have you guys seen this thing? I'm watching an infomercial about it right now. It's like a curler thing with a brush. It curls and looks like it kind of flat irons. But the neat thing is that the curler thing rotates while the brush smoothes. I would've just dismissed i but... they had KIMBERLY LOCKE as a model doing it on her hair...

What do we think? I'm waiting for them to do another ethnic girl's hair.

The PJ in me is coming out... Oh wait they got a black girl with thick coarse hair... I'mma have to get this thing... and why are the using FHI's to show you what not to do with your hair...hmmm...

And you get two for that price! I ordered it... we'll see after 30 days. I really need to stop. I ordered a maxiglide and I already have 3 FHIs (in diff sizes of course)...

Hmm that's kind of suspect getting two lol well let me know how it works for you then. I have a CHI that I used on one piece of hair to check the length I'm not really using heat at the moment though but I would like to see your results.

It looks interesting from the website. I wonder how hot does it get. I am a 4b natural, so I wonder if it would work for me. Let us know...i just got a raise and was going to reward myself with a new flatiron.....but now.....hmmmmm......:)

I'm bumping this thread to see if anyone has ever tried this thing before. I saw the infomercial today and I was really impressed. I already have a Maxi-glade, but I"m starting to feel the PJ coming out of me too. There's this "special" where you try the InStylers for 30 days for $14.99. They'll even throw in a "free one" and all this other little stuff. After 30 days you pay 3 monthy installments for $120 for both. I went on eBay and saw InStylers and it would seem the better deal would be the 2 for $120. What do you think and has anyone used this yet?

Never mind. I read all the threads here and read reviews on another website. I knew there was a catch when the commercial said you can try 1 for 30 days and get another 1 free for $14.99 but didn't mention the exact total. If your only trying it for 30 days, why do you need 2? From what I read from the reviews it's a scam and there are too many charges. I'll just keep my Maxiglide.

From what I've read, it's not even just the charges but apparently it doesn't work as well as they claim.

I am always suspicious of things that promise you that you can return them if you don't like it or try this product for a month and if you don't like it.... Either it'll be one of those things that your body gets used to and won't accept any hint of stopping (think drugs) or it'll be something that will be such a pain to return that you'd much rather just keep it. Now if it actually worked, I'd probably learn to live with the extra charges but from what I hear, it doesn't.

Saw this at bed, bath and beyond today for $100 was wondering if anybody used this and how did it work for them?

I have one and have used it. Sadly I have nothing good to say about it. It was very difficult to get to the root, the machine only spins in one direction so it makes it difficult to switch hands and get the curl facing the right away. It is fickle and mine started to malfunction a little after a few uses. It is difficult to use and I could do a better job with a flat or curling iron. The little bristles on the brush bend quickly which is pretty much what the tool is advertised around.

All in all waste of money, just wasn't as amazing as they made it seem.

to voice the opposite opinion, I loved mine. I'm 4b (but relaxed) and my hair comes out so light and airy from it. Using it takes just as long as my Sedu and I do like it more. The only areas where Sedu wins is a) I tend to burn myself with the InStyler if I'm not paying attention and b) because of the round barrel it doesn't get to my new growth unless I take the barrel and rub it along the growth. When I'm further post, I do tend to pick up my Sedu but I'll never give up my InStyler.

I will say did you guys get the regular or the professional grade? I got the professional grade since it gets hotter and my hair does need the heat.

I got the 2 for 1 and gave the 2nd to my friend as a gift. She loves it too. Once I paid the total price, it was what I paid for my Sedu so the charges didn't bother me (I also read the fine print before I gave them my credit card - you gotta read that mess these days).

I didn't know there was more than one kind. What's the difference?

I just ordered it from QVC. It arrived over the weekend and I've used it once. I'm on the fence right now. My hair turned out nice but you definitely need something else to straighten the roots. Also, my hair started reverting a few hours after straightening so... I just don't know how I feel about it right now. It has been ridiculously hot here in Georgia and there is a learning curve so perhaps its not fair to evaluate it right now.

It doesn't get as hot as my Runway so maybe its not enough heat for my hair. I think the max temp is 385 degrees and the Runway is 450 degrees. I don't use the Runway at max temp when styling my hair but I do use it at that temp after washing and when touching up the roots.

I'll have to play around with it in the next couple of weeks to really decide if its right for me. Thanks to the 30 day return policy on QVC, I can send it back if I don't like it. :yep:

This looks like it would put too much tension on the hair. Then it would be splitsville from there. Although it does look interesting, I don't use heat enough to want to buy it though. And I have a Sedu. I love that thing.

I like the Instyler however it won't get your hair as straight as a flat iron. When I use the Instyler, I get more of a "blowdried with a round brush" look i.e. more body. But, one problem with the Instyler is that it's easy (very easy) to burn your scalp. QVC sent me a guard to attach to it which helps with preventing burns but makes it almost impossible to get at your roots. I probably would not buy it again.
