In search of cream that provides all day moisture without glycerin and wax

If you have a tried and true hair milk, cream, or oil that provides all day moisture without glycerin, wax, soy bean oil or propylene glycol.

My one and only love has changed its formula...Eden body works hair milk. The old formula was terrific and had all day moisture.

Glycerin takes moisture out my hair and makes it dry and brittle.
Wax causes build up and requires clarification.
Soy bean oil propylene glycol and causes thinning.

Im thinking about trying shea moisture curl and style milk since it took out isoproyl mistrate.

 I need all day moisture since I wear twist outs daily.

Help Ladies and have a great day.

DLove

I think Shea Moisture meets all those requirements (not entirely sure though). The best moisturizer eva!! try the Coconut and Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk.

Wax is the death of my hair, and glycerine was not great either. I stopped using things with emulsifiers too, since they are also wax based. Emulsifiers are in every cream conditioner, moisturizer, etc- leave in & rinse out. I was going through an endless cycle of stripping out buildup, then putting the same stuff that just built up in to add moisture back to dry hair. :pullhair:

Now, I get my moisture from water, oils, and my shea butter mix. No more buildup! In fact, prepooing and oil rinsing helps remove buildup (EVOO is most effective). My hair is soft, moisturized, and thriving! :love5: Here's my weekly regi:

PREPOO: EVOO/EVCO, rinse well in shower with warm water.

WASH: I'm just using Terressentials hair mud wash to wash my scalp weekly, then using it throughout my hair to clarify once in a while. It's non-drying, so I can get out of the strip/build-up cycle. That stuff is incredible- I encourage all naturals to read that thread!

MOISTURIZE: my shealoe mix (shea butter, AVG, EVCO, castor oil, honey, lemon essential oil), seal w/ EVCO. There are a ton of recipes out there you can use or tweak. I recommend starting with a butter your hair likes, adding an oil or two your hair likes, and a moisturizing ingredient or two your hair likes.

MOISTURE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK: I *lightly* spray my hair with water & smooth & work it in. Smoothing it in rather than letting it evaporate makes hair very soft & moisturized. Then I seal w/ EVCO. Sometimes I need a little more of my shea cream if I didn't use enough after washing.

My reg is sooo simple now that I am out of the buildup/strip off cycle! I recommend looking to butters and oils (other than jojoba, which is a wax) to get moisture, since they are wax free. Good luck!

I like the Bee Mine balanced moisturizer, but it does have a wax down low on the list. I don't find that it causes build up on my hair.

I like Mozeke Sweet Almond Pudding - There are other products that doesn't have said ingredients too.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Sweet Almond Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, MSM powder, all natural preservative, and fragrance.

My hair doesn't like shea butter, glycerin, beeswax, etc either. I can use those things, but only in a rinse out conditioner.

In my glycerine free leave ins/moisturisers list I have:

Curls Milkshake
Curl junkie Beauticurls argan and olive oil
Kinky curly Knot today
Shea moisture Curl and style milk

But they're not really heavy creams, especially the knot today. All of my heavier creams contain glycerine, hth.

ETA things I no longer own that were glycerine free:

Beautiful curls alafia leave in
Giovanni direct leave in
Komaza care Coconut curl hair lotion
Komaza care Shea butter hair lotion
Oyin dew

It sounds like you want KittyMeowMeow 's method. Emulsifiers are generally waxes. They hold water and oil together in stable solutions. Without them product manufacturers would be able to offer the creams and conditioners that people enjoy using. But if you don't want your water and oils or butters together in one product you can always just spritz your hair and follow up with a small amount of oil or butter.

Tiye,Yes, that's what Ive been using. Spritzing with purified water and sealing with argan oil twice daily in the morning and night. Its that I manipulate it daily and believe that Im not retaining length because its dry and breaking some.

I read somewhere on a post here that using clay or mud in your leaves holes in the hair shaft. I'v been searching all morning to find the link but cant. Great reviews on the terressentials mud wash though. I ordered it...

i like hairveda busy izzie moisutrizer. keeps my sons hair moist like a rainforest.

shea raw moisture holding mist is nice too but may be too light for what you are looking for.

I believe this has wax and glycerine in it.
I use this too and it makes my hair soft.

Darcy's botanicals just about anything with the glycerin free option! Especially the juicy peach leave in or the daily condish

Harina I mostly use HSR. I use the AOWC and the AORose Mosqueta just for a change. I alternate the AOGPB and the Curl Junkie keratin repair something something(can't remember what it is called) for protein when needed.
