Important Announcement

So if I have a blog that's just pictures and stuff. No monetary benefits, but its not hosted by lhcf..can I put it on here? That's where I'm a little confused. Are only blogs hosted by lhcf allowed?

It seems folks are not finding it clear as people are still infringing the rules either knowingly or unknowingly!

This is what I want to know too. Still confused though the bolded implies so:

3. Blogs - Links
This one is a signature issue but I am putting it here in a separate paragraph for emphasis.

Blog links are allowed so long as the following are true:
- The blog is hosted in longhaircareforum.com
- The blog does not have any form of advertising (i.e. Google Adsense)
- The blog is a hobby, record of life, journal, etc. and does not promote any business
- There is no monetary gain for the blog owner or anyone else by people visiting that forum

- Links to Fotki are allowed so long as again there is no monetary gain for the Fotki owner or no promotion of business in the Fotki. The same rules apply to Fotki as with Blogs.

Nikos can you please re explain the process to beoming a vendor? I'd like to try it for three months

You can sign up for a Seller's subscription (click the subscribe button top left).

This will make the color of your name brown and will allow you to advertise in your signature and in the Vendor's forum.

The cost is 50.00 dollars a month and the minimum charge is 2 months.

No that is not correct.

This is what the announcement says:

Beverly and I have discussed this a lot and decided that we will allow links (to blogs, picture galleries etc.) that are not hosted within Longhaircareforum.com. This can mean a blogger blog, wordpress blog, fotki gallery, etc. We decided that if we do not allow any links in signatures we will eventually remove a valuable asset of this forum which is information exchange.

Now there are going to be members that will try to bend the above rules (regarding advertising) or ignore them. Those members are a minority. We will find them and they will be banned - simply as that.

So in short:
If you have a LHCF blog - yes you can put it in your signature.
If you DO NOT have a LHCF blog (or picture site or livejournal or anything else) you CAN put it in your signature so long as:

- The blog does not have any form of advertising (i.e. Google Adsense)
- The blog is a hobby, record of life, journal, etc. and does not promote any business
- There is no monetary gain for the blog owner or anyone else by people visiting that forum

Clear enough? :)

Wait a minute..I had a blog in my siggy for my new debt mgt journey. I wasn't breaking any of the rules above, but I noticed the link has been removed. Why is that?

No that is not correct.

Hmmm...I was banned in December for having a wordpress blog in my signature that was a journal and no monetary benefit to me. So, this is a change from Dec?

You may want to take livejournal out of that because it does have ads which aren't entirely under user control. And they are targeted based on the keywords of your LJ account so someone with a hair blog will have a lot of hair related ads.

The user doesn't have a monetary gain but the host (LJ) absolutely does and the way the policy is written it's a violation without individual user control or intent to break or bend the rules.

:yay: So I can put my blog in my siggy (no monetary gain whatsoever), I was worried about that so I took it off in December.

No that is not correct.

Is the siggie I have now fine?:drunk:

- You can have pictures in your signature so long as they are NOT bigger than 250 pixels in height. You can stretch them to 700 pixels wide.
- If you have a pikistrip that is slightly larger that will suffice but nothing else.

If you right click on your picture and look under properties, you will see that your height is 500...that's apparently too high, according to Niko's.
