has anyone heard of or tried Iman's relaxer I did not know she had a relaxer

There used to be a kit where you could relax and then color (semi-permanent) right after. I used it and loved it. I was a color junkie. I used to get chestnut brown. But wouldn't you know it... everytime I find something that I really love it gets discontinued. I have not been able to find the Iman relaxer in about 5 years.

Where did you find it? Not that I would get it now that I am transitioning. I'm just curious.

I remember seeing this relaxer on hqhair.com I think. I wondered about it a while back but never thought of buying it.

I was just checking out the Iman website and I see that it doesn't look discontinued. I used to buy the relaxer at Rite Aid and Bartell's Drug stores. All of the Iman stuff disappeared back in 1999, so I had assumed that it was discontinued. According to the website, they are only selling the products in certain stores in certain areas. I see a whole line of hair care products that I don't remember from before. I'm gonna have to check them out. (PJ! :sekret: )

Anyway, I do remember the relaxer being really good to my hair. The only other do it yourself relaxer that I ever liked better than that was Allways Natural. Couldn't find that anymore either.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I used to use that same kit in college (around '98-'99), I just can't remember which color (I had so many :lachen: ). From what I remember all the products included were first rate, and the kit had a very "elite" look to it in it's styling (for a BSS $5-$7 kit). I can't remember how the relaxer performed, but since I used it a couple of times, I suppose it was pretty good ;)

The description states that it's a "Phytokeratin" relaxer......I wonder if it's comparable to "Phytospecific" relaxer. I can't seem to find the ingredients.
