I'M UPSET. . . AGAIN

Sorry for your bad experience. But ITA that just saying no is straight to the point, and since they need you more than you need them why not just say no, or try the scolding thing karezone advised either way your letting them know what you do and don't want, because if you don't tell them then how will they know, and they'll think it's ok to cut as many inches as they choose. And that's 5 inches in one year if they cut 2in before and 3in the other day, How much did you retain this yr. so far?

I know the feeling, went to get wash and set in this salon, I asked for dusting, stylist looked at me crazy like you need a CUT, i mean I know my ends are raggedy but it looked like if I had allowed her, I'd have been walking out there with a short bob, cause the look in her eyes were like 5 inches or bust!! :D
I got home, trimmed it myself (front half), and that part is fine, no split ends or breakage, and having my mom do the back for me.

Sorry I dont trust black stylists anymore

I got my hair relaxed the other day and when she said "And you're getting a trim correct?" (She hadn't even looked at my hair yet) I said "No. Not this time."
I think I'm just going to start trimming my hair myself so I won't have to talk about trims with stylists every time I go in for a relaxer.

Man, I wish I'd done what you did Candice. I just got a relaxer yesterday and feel like my progress has been lost b/c my stylist evened out my hair. I didn't tell her not to, but I made the mistake in assuming that she wouldn't since she hadn't evened it out the last time. Oh well. I'm going to try to stretch for 4-5 months this time so hopefully that will cut down on opportunities for my hair to be chopped off.

3 inches is alot of hair.
It took me almost 3 months to grown 3 inches.
She might have set you back some.

Just say NO.

Why shoud you feel bad?

If you went to the club and the bartender kept saying that you need drinks that you do not want, would you feel bad if you said no to him.

Just remember she is just like your mechanic and plumber. A service person if you don't want the service just don't get it.
ITA, I don't have a problem saying no about something I am payng for. I might even roll my eyes while saying it

My biggest problem with the situation is that she told me that she did not cut the 3" when I KNOW SHE DID. We discussed it to some degree before she got me to agree so she should remember.

I've got pictures from before I went to her and got the so call "trim" and you can clearly see how much longer my hair was, Now she wants to cut two more inches and I would lose 5" in like 4months. I CAN'T TAKE THAT.

I doesnt matter if she remembers or not. She very well may not. You are probably not the only person that she has done this to, and therefore your situation may not stick out in her mind. The only thing that matters is that you dont want her to cut 2 inches off your hair. I dont think you should have to be creating an evidence file by pulling out old pics and whatnot. She just needs to respect the fact that you said no. Also, the fact that she doesnt remember/wont acknowledge it shows you that she doesnt know what she is talking about because she in not tuned into YOUR hair. She could be telling 30 people the exact same thing that she is telling you. My suggestion would be to find someone who cares about/pays attention to what is happening to your hair.

I am so sorry this happended to you and as I am reading this, I am trying to prepare myself to tell my stylist (stepbrother) NO!! when I go get a touch up this Wednesday. The first pic you see below is when I last went to him on August 20th and he said he ony clipped my ends, but like you, I have pics from few weeks before where my hair was much longer and he CUT my hair. I was in a hair show for him and I think he was just trying to even it up for presentation purposes.

When I kept telling him that I was pissed, he got bent all out of shape telling me that I acted like my hair was down to my butt, etc. and that he knew he only clipped my ends.... I didn't argue and just said I would not go to him EVERY week like I had been doing for the past year and a half, just go to get my touch ups.(and yes he knew I was trying to grow my layers out cause i told him so over and over again)

I am going this Wednesday after almost 16 weeks and as soon as I sit in the chair, I am going to tell him (half jokingly), go on and keep your scissors in your little pouch cause you won't be needing them today!.. I will be saying it in a joking manner, but I will be as serious as heck! I have decided to do as some suggested - learn how to clip my ends myself.

My brother and I love him dearly, but I also just want someone, family or not, to listen to me and respect my wishes! And also to give me what I pay for (yes I do pay him a little something/discounted rate cause I do understand that he does have to make a living)
