I\'m Starting To Understand My Hair...conquering the frizz!
Kinda long... /images/graemlins/whyme.gif
During my transition, frizz was not an issue. Well, after I cut off the relaxed ends, it seemed like my hair became frizzy INSTANTLY! I was having a difficult time trying to combat it... I would apply (non-alcohol) gels, heavy duty pomades, frizz serums, conditioners, (not all at once), then wrap my hair in my satin cap. That would work in the morning, but later on in the afternoon, my hair would swell & frizz, causing the little curl definition that I had to disappear. I was cool with it...I was just happy to be natural.
Well, the other day, I decided to give myself a hot oil treatment (my last one was over 4 mths ago). Anywho, I wanted to use up the oil just so that I could throw the emptied bottle away & make room on the shelf for other hair stuff.
After I rinsed the oil out, I immediately noticed the difference... my hair felt "heavier". When I looked in the mirror, my wet hair was much more smooth than usual. Well, I still didn't think too much about it. But after I did my usual lil "shake" and looked in the mirror, I was /images/graemlins/shocked.gif . I didn't see any frizz what so ever! I couldn't believe it!...
Usually I'll have to put a ton of my homemade shea-mango-coconut butter in my hair in order to fight the frizz & gain some definition....BUT NOT ANYMORE! /images/graemlins/trampoline.gif Now I can use far less butter (which means far less work) & still get that defined look.
Don't get me wrong, frizz is not a bad thing. In fact, certain styles that I wear, like my big afro puff, looks much better (bigger) when my hair is frizzy. But it's good to know that I have other options...
I'm really enjoying learning about my natural /images/graemlins/antlers.gif hair /images/graemlins/bdance.gif
Peace out
