I'm starting to feel down

I've seen some ladies on here that started their hair care journey the same time I started mine (July 08) and they have retained more length then me. It's started to really get me down yall. I know I have been doing everything right! I just dont understand I relax every 8- 10 wks I'm going to try 12 this time and I DC after every shampoo wash and CO WASH! and I wear nothing but rollersets. I know I get atleast 1/2 a inch a month sometimes more than that so why am I not having the same progress these ladies are having???

By looking at your progress pictures, to me, you have had good progress.

Your hair has thickened up greatly, it's longer, and it looks healthy with your color.

It looks good to me. I'm BSL-MBL and waiting for my ends to mirror yours. Give it time.

My hair always thickens up before growing down. It looks like you're well on your way :yep:

It will be alright ::hug::
I have the same problem. There are people who transitioned for less time and bc'd after me who have tons of length and it feels like my hair is the same length.
I'm not sure about relaxed hair but maybe someone will chime in on your regimen. Maybe something in your regimen needs to be tweaked.
And is your hair breaking off visibly or are you just not seeing length?
And are you getting all of you nutrients via food or vitamins?
I think not eating healthy and taking vitamins was a problem for me, as well as not protective styling. I'm trying to fix both and maybe I'll see a difference. Patience...

But I will say that your hair looks fuller and healthier compared to your beginning pic!

You've made awesome progress, your hair looks thick and healthy. Truth-be-told, I'm a little jealous of you :look: lol Your ends look fantastic, your hair is no longer see-through...I hope I start to see progress like yours in the next few months! :yep: Did you start using weaker relaxers? I'm trying to get thickness like that!

Mine as well:yep:....have patience with your hair...you have to accept the process along with the progress ;)

:hardslap:Snap out it!! Can't you see how much fuller and healthier your hair looks. I can . Just watch, while your hair is getting thicker and healthier some others are gaining length. Then once you start to see more length, they'll be trimming just to make their ends fuller like yours. You'll see. Keep doing what you do.:yep:

I agree that your progress looks very good. :yep: Your hair has thickened up and looks a lot healthier and longer. Looks like your sig pics indicate it has only been 6 months, so you should have 3 inches of growth minus any trims you had to do to even out the back, right? I think it looks very good and you should take another look in another 6 months. I bet you will be pleasantly surprised. Remember that old saying: "a watched pot never boils." That siad, I understand your impatience--I can relate!

No tears! Your hair looks great and I want your thickness! You and I both started in July 08. I can't give you concrete recommendations, but I can tell you what we do differently, just for comparison.

I relaxed in July and stretched for 4 months; I am now on a 6 month stretch.

I generally live in buns; I roller set sometimes but then I will bun the hair after a day or two - if I even wear it out.

I am doing low manipulation for the balance of my stretch (until late May). Only combing in on wash day, using a Jilbere shower comb - the only exception is every few weeks I do what I call a "comb down" - start with the Jilbere and comb through, then a smaller comb, then a still smaller comb to eliminate shed hair.

I moisturize my hair once a day - ends get moisturized and sealed twice. Other than that, it stays in the bun.

I do a Keraphix treatment once a week, followed by Humectress - I swear this is keeping my hair from THINKING about breaking.

My "bun" isn't anything tight: it's just my hair twisted loosely and held in place with a satin scrunchie, so there's no pulling, no stress on my strands.

From what I see, you have progressed greatly in thickness. I guess you want the length. Girl, the hair gets thicker then longer. Watch, next week you'll notice some length and come back here saying..."oops, my bad, it is growing..."

I use to take Biotin when I first started my hair journey but I got lazy and stopped and I do notice a little breakage but it's not a lot

Yes I guess your right I dont have any kind of patience

Please don't feel down!! Your hair has definitely gained progress! Also, as many have stated the hair gets thick first and then shows length. Lastly, don't compare your progress with other people, your hair just may grow at a different pace etc. Whenever I feel bad about my progress, I just think about where I used to be and where I am now.

I really want to stretch longer but I'm a senior in high school and with senior prom, senior pictures, graduation, etc. it's really hard for me to strecth

It really doesn't look like you're doing a bad job. What I can see is that you trimmed up and evened out quite a bit for fullness. Maybe trim less often if length is more important to you right now? It's beautiful hair, honestly.
