Hello All,
My name is Glib Gurl and I've been lurking for a while. You seem to have a great forum here and I could definitely use some hair tips! A few other tidbits about me . . .
I'm 28 years old, no husband, no kids -- only a kitty named Mindy. I'm currently a lawyer working at a corporate firm, but I'm in a period of transition and looking to enter a new field (or at least find a new job as corporate life has squeezed the joy from my life). I am a Christian who is looking to increase her prayer life. I am also a member of the "chub club" who is always on a diet . . . maybe one of these days I'll actually lose some weight! Oh, and I love all things pop culture - movies, music, books, etc.
In terms of my hair I am completely in a rut. I've worn my hair straight since I was first old enough to get a relaxer. (My mom and grandma are all about "good hair"
) I've also been trying to grow it long (i.e., past my shoulders) for as long as I can remember. (Is this sounding familiar to anyone?) In grammar school and high school I almost always wore my hair in a french braid. In college and beyond, I've stuck mostly to slick-back buns and ponytails. (I've even been known to wear a *gasp* bow in the back of my head. My friends are slowly weaning me off of them.) From time to time, I will curl my hair overnight with rods and go for a tangled mass of curls . . . it looks cute, but it's not quite as polished as I'd like. Try as I might, I just can't sustain a sleek bob . . . even when I get a wrap, it always comes out bone straight after I unwrap it. So yeah, I really do need some help when it comes to styling . . . I hardly ever put heat on my hair and I don't want to start, but like I said, I just can't seem to create that sleek look that I want. Anyone else feel my pain?
