I'm new...I need help!!

Hi everyone!! I've been lurking the boards for tips and advice for a couple weeks, and finally joined today! I need some advice, because I'm not sure what went wrong...

My last two major washes I pre pooed with ORS Mayo and let that sit for about an hour under a plastic cap. I then washed and did a DC with generic humectress. I moisturized with Elasta mango butter, sealed with oil. Did my usual roller set with a light spritz of setting lotion and sat under the dryer. This time when I went to wrap my hair after taking out the rollers, I saw a bunch of broken hairs in my sink!! I'm a normal shedder, but the broken pieces of hair really freaked me out since that is really unusual for me.

What do you think I did wrong? Too much protein? Over moisturized? I'm still trying to tweak my products and regimine, but I don't know how to analyze my strands for what they need yet. HELP PLEASE!!

What product did you use that was different than you normally use? I find that my hair does not respond well to some products and my hair starts to act funny and break. Most times when I clarify and start over with my "tried and trues", my hair goes back to normal.

Basically, everything except for the setting lotion was new. I started with new products since the old ones obviously weren't working for me...or maybe they were??

They may have been working just fine. Why do you think they were not working for you.

My hair hardly ever breaks, unless it time for a touchup. But as soon as I try some conditioner or fail to clarify, my hair starts rebelling on me. Sometimes it is better to stick with what works, you know.

Welcome to the forum!

It could have been the setting lotion. They make my hair hard and prone to snapping.
