Make sure they sure a heat protectant on your hair before they blow dry and then flat iron.
If you smell hair burning that is not a good thing.
good luck

Thanks ladies. But I'm on the Hide Your Hair Challenge so I can't. :look: And I'm using my Boot Camp pass. Brownsugarflyygirl don't kill me! I desperately need a trim. I haven't had one in forever. I'm getting little knots at the end of my hair and they're getting to be unbearable. And since I BCED myself I'm sure there's still some relaxed pieces hanging on here and there. They might be what's causing the knots. My friend goes to this guy and he's good so I'm gonna try him out. He's so hard to get an appt with though. :ohwell:

I hope it turns out well! I just agree w/what others said. Make sure a heat protectant is used and watch out for the scissors!

Thanks. I went and talked to him for a few mins back in December when I made my initial appt. I ended up canceling bc I couldn't get an appt until like Jan 5 and I wanted my hair done for Christmas. But I did express my concerns to him about hair being burned and not reverting, etc. He said that's why he doesn't use the pressing comb and that the flat iron is better. He seemed very knowledgeable and my friend raved about him so we'll see how it goes tomm. I just hope my ends aren't real bad and he has to cut a lot.

Good luck! You can't just give us one eensy weensy pic? LOL, just kidding. I hope all goes well and you come back raving about how wonderful your experience was :)

I'd say to make sure you condition with a restructurizing conditioner so that you can restore the lost proteins after you've flat-ironed.

Just wanted to let you ladies know that it turned out GREAT! I was in and out in an hr. He washed my hair and trimmed it wet. Then he blowdried it with the blowdryer with the little cone thing on the end and a paddle brush. It blew straight really easily. Then he curled it with the flat iron. He sprayed some oil sheen on it and that was it. No smoke. No burning hair smell. It's nice and light and blows in the wind. I'm very pleased! He charged me $40.

Now I just gotta see how long it's going to stay straight. If I'm good for 2 weeks then he's got a lifetime customer! I'm surprised that I have a lot more hair than I thought I did even after the trim. It's almost as long as my relaxed hair was before I chopped. Maybe 2 or 3 inches shy of it in the back. It'll be back where it was in a few months. I'll give it til the end of the summer.

Bmore, where did you go? You can PM me if you like.

April. :( My challenges are all listed in my signature. I only got it flat ironed bc I needed a trim. But he trimmed it wet anyway so I guess it didn't really matter. I assumed he was going to trim it dry after it was straightened.

Really? I always walk by them. I like what I see but I'm always afraid to go in. Maybe I'll give it a try next time.

Yeah, I already have some in a locked folder. I took some pics yesterday and I'll put them in there when I get home.

Jaiku - There's a black guy in there who did my hair. Don't just go in there and pick any random person bc I don't know about the rest of them. IDK how he does with relaxed hair (I watched him do one girls hair when I initally went to talk to him and she had a short cut but it wasn't anything spectacular) but he does one of my friends natural hair and she referred me to him. I managed to shower without any of my hair kinking up this morning so we made it through step one. However all my curls were freaking gone from me wrapping it so I ended up with a half wig on today. I'm gonna recurl it and pin curl it when I get home. It should fall back into place since he cut it that way. He told me to wrap it and I thought that was strange. IDK why I didn't think to pincurl it. We'll see how it looks after it's been washed again in 2 weeks.
