So I just started the Bootcamp Challenge and my protective style is wigs or falls. I went out last week and bought this OUT COLD short wig and I have honestly received +50 complement in 2 days. I'm starting to feel uncomfortable because it almost seems like I'm lying when people say "Your hair is beautiful...I love the color...that is very attractive..." And I say "Thank you":ohwell:

What do I do? I want to bust out and say "ITS A WIG!!!" :hardslap:

Girl, be happy you found a wig that looks good and natural. Eat those compliments up and don't say a word.

ETA: That punching smilie had me rolling :lachen:. I could just hear you shouting "It's a wig!"

I would say Thank you and keep it moving...I know how you feel though, I don't want to mislead people...but I don't want to walk around telling people that my hair is fake either.

Maybe you can think of it like makeup...something to enhance your look...some people know you have it on and some people don't:ohwell:

Agreed. Be happy that you found one that's natural enough for people to compliment because most wigs look fake as heck.

What is an out cold wig?

You shouldn't feel the need to make a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. They are saying you look nice. No one cares if you are wearing a wig or not. That's like if you found a really great pair of Manolos, and someone complimented you, you wouldn't go around screaming "But they were on clearance!":wallbash:....

:blush:Take the compliment silly!

#1 It IS your hair, you bought it:grin:
#2 Just because they say your hair is beautiful, who's to say that they don't know that it's not naturally yours. It's 2008, there's all kinds of women walking around here with bangin' wigs and weaves:yep:

I say take that compliment, smile and say "Thank you" and keep it moving. I know at first you may feel alittle guilty like you're deceiving people, but you're not- it's your hair whether you bought it or grew it:drunk:

ivyQuietstorm, girlfriend.....you better take those compliments with a BIG SMILE and keep it moving......You paid for it right?....so it is NOW your hair to take off and put back on ANYTIME of the day!

I agree with the other posters......girl you better take that compliment, smile, (do an inside "wink-wink") and KEEP IT MOVING!!!

(after all, it IS your hair b/c you bought it!!).....Would you much rather someone walk up to you and say "OMG, you really need to do something about that wig; it doesn't look good at all!". Nah, I didn't think so! After all, you bought it b/c you thought it was cute, so let someone else think that it's cute too!

I agree, just take the compliment. Now, if they start asking if you cut your hair then that is another story.

This has started happening to me. I recently bought a new wig in a new and different color for me (see avatar), and I have been getting complements about it. I just say thanks and keep it moving to those that don't know it's not my real hair.

Hahaha...I soo feel you. I few of my coworkers complimented me on my new fall this past week and I said thanks and let them know right away that it was a half wig..lol! After thinking about it, I felt silly for doing that since it's not that serious. I stopped doing it though because I feel like there isn't any point. But if someone asks, I will let them know the real deal.

Why did the caucasians at work take it there? Clueless about our hair, one of my collegues tried to call me out! "So Ivy, was that long hair a weave." I felt like::brucelee:

I had to explain that hair is a very touchy subject in the african american community. If you are genuinely curious, I suggest you ask an African American friend or someone else who is close to you. Otherwise, please don't ask us questions. Draw your own conclusion.
