I'm bored with my natural hair...

It's only a few days in the new year and I'm bored with my natural hair. I've been natural for 18 months and I still do not have the length needed for daily hairstyles. I hate two-strand twists. I believe they look juvenile. Don't get me wrong, I've worn them for most of my natural hair journey, but when I passed the mirror, I was like "ugh, I hate this style":ohwell:

I don't know what else to do. My head is really large, so wigs do not fit! I've purchased a boatload of products...I don't know, for hopes that my hair would grow faster. I just have slow growing hair and I'm almost at my breaking point.

Any suggestions? help.

When I felt like that I went surfing on Youtube for styles and I experimented with different styles. My new favorite is my banana clip with my twist out.

Experiment your butt off girl and get out of that slump!!! HHJ

Maybe you can do braids or kinky twists. You'll probably be happy to see your hair again after it has been put away for while. There's also quickweave or crochet braids. Maybe cornrows with extensions. What about braidout or twistouts. or maybe put your twists in an updo.

When I get bored with my natural hair, I rollerset! Maybe seeing it straighter will make you see that you've retained more hair than you thought you did :yep: I also look for inspiration on YT for new hairstyles.

when I got bored with my natural hair I added color. It brings a little more jazz. I also switched between wearing twist and straightening, but now I'm on a personal no heat challenge because of my love of that CHI :nono:

These are from last year. I now have a reddish color in my hair.

Check out my fotki. I have 18 months of natural hair.

I do braidouts (my favorite), twistouts, updos, puffs, and buns. Look on youtube and other fotki albums for style inspirations. You can also straighten your hair.

The best part of being natural is that you can do so much with your hair:yep:

I really think you should think about hiding your hair for a while until you get past these feelings. Think about getting a weave installed (maybe a nice natural looking one like Halley's Curls Natural, Bohyme Brazilian wave, All About My Hair or others like it). Maybe some hair extensions (braids).

Even if you leave it in for only a month or 2 you should see some encouraging growth. I always do when I hide my hair.

HTH :)

I miss this style. It's harder to do on my hair at this length, but I loved it when my hair was shorter.

Also bantu knots/knot out might be an option.

Your color is gorgeous, Love it.

I hear you, i've been getting bored & a little lazy too. So i have been flat ironing and doing braidouts. That's how i usually get in the winter though cause it's too cold to wng all the time. Hang in there

I agree with the previous poster about adding color. Try some cute hair candy: hair sticks, flowers, etc.

Just sending some love. And, it looks like you do have a lot of hair.:yep:

Why don't you go and get a blow out and wear it straight for a week them do a braid out from there so it will look different than normal.... Before you do anything drastic you should really mess around with it..... try fro-hawks, and wilder styles, get it cut into a style, get henna

Well you might be bored with it, but I can't wait till my hair gets to that length!

You can wear various buns, braid/twist outs, puffs, updos, French rolls (I can't WAIT till I can do that one!) two strand flat twists with a bun in the back... I can think of SO many styles I'm gonna try when my hair gets longer! Like someone else suggested, check out youtube! I'm sure you'll be able to find some ideas and tutorials there! Hopefully that'll pull you out of this slump! :)

Girl you have nice thick hair and you have a good amount of length even when twisted. I think I did more when my hair was the length yours is than I do w/mine now because certain styles just take me longer. You can do rollersets, rodsets, bantu knot sets, twist outs, you can flat twist it to the front or side and do something fun w/the loose hair, all types of braided and twisted up dos, puffs (I miss having nice puffs), also don't forget that nice accessories can really spice up a hairstyle.
If don't mind using heat you can even flat iron it for a straight look, I personally think the options are practically endless. You'll just have to practice new styles.
Regarding wigs my head is REAL big so I find that half wigs work better for me because I can leave the front out, I've even used some full wigs as half wigs because of my big head.:nono:

BronzeBomb, your hair is so gorgeous! :yep: I am so wishing I could be in your place. I have to wait 13 months to catch up.:ohwell:
