Yeah I'm having a similar issues. I have really fine, thin hair and it i think my CHI fries the hell out of my hair because you can't adjust the temperature, but it definitely gets your hair straight. so, i was going to get a maxi glide but from the commercials and pics of some of the ladies on the board, it doesnt get your hair all that straight. well not straight like i like i like it.

For the ladies with the maxi, do you have any trouble getting roots straight (not a question for relaxed heads, just wanted to know can u get really close with the maxi, ion like no puffy roots and im not relaxed).

No, and I'm relaxed  I tried using it as close to the roots as I can, held it there for 8 seconds.... roots were still curly:rolleyes:

I get my hair bone straight with a Maxiglide and erebody know my hair is still nappy. Never had a problem with the MG. It does a great job, just big as heck is all LOL!

Just turn your CHI off till it cools down, you can still use it as it cools turn it back on .

I'm in the same boat as the originator of this post (so glad I stumbled upon it) and what I am wondering is:

If the texture of one's natural hair and whether or not one uses chemikills is what makes the difference between success or not between the Chi and the Maxi?

I now have to research this "Maxi" for I had never heard of it until three minutes ago. I have nothing in my hair (well, 'cept moisturizer).

Green light, "Go!". Decision made, I just purchased a Maxiglide via eBay. Going to a wedding 8/31 and was going to go to salon and get a SP & C. Now, I don't have to. Can do it myself. :eyebrows2

I havent used both but I use the Maxi on setting 5 without the plates or steam to flatten my roots after a rollerset, its amazing. I have tried it the other way but it works best for my texlaxed hair like this..
