I\'m about 3 or 4 inches from bra strap

I was wondering if you ladies could give me any advice on how to get to bra strap by March of 2005. My DH will be back from Iraq by then and I know he would love to see my hair to my bra strap. My hair is about 2 or 3 inches past my shoulders so how far do you think I've got to go? I'm 5'1 and I'm really trying to get that lenght by the time he comes back without getting braids. I use 4 of the Surge products along with essential oils, butters and my bone combs. I also know that most of my lenght came from when I was pregnant. I know how u feel but y don't u want to put in braids. Wearing braids all summer got me over the hump to bra strap. Unfortunatley, I had to trim so I'm back to 1 to 2 inches away. I'll be braiding again next month.

Try doing the protective styles (buns, french twists, updos, etc). They have helped a lot of people maintain length. As a matter of fact I'm on the bun challenge. I think its working. But I'm on the "no measuring challenge" so I can't even measure to see how well its working! /images/graemlins/look.gif

It's not that I don't like braids in fact I love them because I know my hair will grow. It's the taking down part that I don't want to deal with right now. I've got a 2 1/2 month old baby to take care of so my time to take down is limited and I don't won't my older children to help me take it down because they may tangle my hair ( not on purpose ). I wear my hair in a bun, phonytail or a ponytail. I just took my hair down from having it in cornrows and my little one woke up right when I was washing my hair.

Jellynote, this is the reason that I only wear cornrows. They don't take as long to take out. Stick to the buns and phony ponytails if they work. Maybe adding some biotin to that supplement list will help boost your growth rate. It sure did help me. Good luck to you!

taking higher doses of biotin and msm will help w/growth spurts.

I have this same goal and timeframe b/c it's a month before my wedding. I have to gain another 4" which feels like 10" to me at the moment since my hair is growing as slow as molasses /images/graemlins/frown.gif . I had to give in and get down w/a supplement that contains MSM, eventhough my skin isn't happy at all /images/graemlins/nono.gif. But I figure it's short term and it encourages me to drink more water. I'm also taking a supplement which contains 5 mg of silica and hoping something works.

I'm keeping my hair-tine the same in terms of products and rotation b/c it's finally right and simplified. I'm staying away from heat, except when I need to dust my ends (which I will rollerset and lightly run over them w/the ceramic iron). And I'll continue to wear protective styles, up-dos, french twists, etc. I'm hoping the supplements make all the difference and crank up the growth!

Are you avoiding heat and drinking plenty of protein? My hair thanks me now that I am consistent with my regimen.

If you are already Surging, then you should also eat a lot of protein and take biotin and MSM. Buns are better than braids for my hair because my buns create low/no-tension. Don't do any high heat or manipulation styling, and you'll be surprised at how much growth you get by March!

Biotin is in my B-Complex vitamin. I've thought about taking higher doses of the msm, but I'm breastfeeding and I don't want it to hurt my milk or my little one. I'll ask my doctor about next week when I see him for my appt.
