I'm surprised they at least recognized that there are beautiful aspects to black women. Most times ignorant non-blacks tend to write off our race as inferior all together. I'm so glad that we as Black women are stepping up our game and letting the world know that we not only have gorgeous skin but we've got gorgeous hair as well, and what!?

I love my hair and my skin. One of the reasons for our hair texture is to protect our heads from the hot african sun (so I've read). And who on this earth said white people had better hair. I can think of far many other races of people with beautiful hair. I don't think they (white women) were included in the trade off. IMO, white people's hair is kind of like their skin color, it is just there, nothing special. Since I 've been on this hair board I have noticed a lot of white women who needed help in the hair department

I agree. Hair problems not a stranger to any race. If you abuse your hair daily (like a lot of non-blacks do with a slight bend to their hair) with heat and improper grooming, your hair suffers and doesn't look great. On the other hand I'm a person that likes diversity. I like to see the beauty in all races. There are different types of caucasian looks that I find beautiful (like auburn hair that some irish women have or thick, gleaming black hair that a lot of italian/mediterranean women have) just as there are a lot of different of looks that I like that belong to people who are not of caucasian descent

imo i think asains hair are way better looking than white hair i guess i neva thought white people had that good hair cuz i didnt live in America too long, i think its just their insecurities their skin is gonna sag and their hair is gonna get thinner while the rest of us blacks asians and latinas still gonna have nice skin and thick hair so i guess its a good thing there is weave and makeup then lmao some people have the nerves i just dont let them bring me down with comments like that cuz i know our people are beautiful its just a shame some lil african americans girls included buy into these lies but the truth will be revealed and it is happening everywhere

I don't think any of us know for sure what she was saying. We don't know for sure if she is black or white or some other race either. I'm glad I'm good at ignoring crazy comments though, makes life a lot easier.

IMO God does not make mistakes!!! Black women have beautiful skin AND beautiful hair when treated right! the same is said about white people they are more likely to age because of there lifestyles i.e excessive drinking, smoking, pubs ( in london) but can have great glowing skin if they treat there body right. it is the same principle for black and whites afterall we all bleed red!!!
OP-maybe you could post the link to this forum. So she could see that black women get the best of both worlds.
Not being a hater but I never really thought their hair was anything special if I envied the hair of another race outside of mine it was the Indians(from India). Since coming to this board though I love black hair! I can't wait to achieve the length and health that many of you ladies prove we can have.

It would be more the southeast asian (philippino cambodian) for me they tend to be more yellow/brown complexion with more textured hair than the more norther asians (japanese chineese) who tend to be very fair sin and pin straight hair.

Ditto. Plus there are very few White women that I see IRL that have this gorgeous hair. (its usually thin and fragile) What you see on TV in the Patene commercial is an illusion for the most part nevertheless this is where I see gorgeous hair from White woman (TV)
Secondly, She was right! I love my beautiful skin and I think Black women of ALL shades have banging complexions!

Well. I have a different take. I have heard that comment before & yes on the surface it can sting if taken literally. It also could have been said by a white or black woman.
When I first heard the comment it did not mean white women have beautiful hair & black women have ugly hair or that white women have ugly skin & black women have beautiful skin.
Rather the comment meant that generally white women have an easier time with their hair when it comes to things like WNG's, swimming, retaining length & black women generally have an easier time with maintaining flawless skin. This refers to groups as a whole, not individuals. Everyone knows whites can have beautiful skin & blacks can have beautiful hair.
However, as a whole both groups struggle more with different things, hence that comment which may have not been said with bad intent.
I think blacks hope that one day black women will also have a reputation for having beautiful hair as well, just like white women would like to also have a reputation for having skin that ages beautifully.
I don't think it is necessary for either group to put the other down in order to flatter themselves. I hope that one day all women period will appreciate all the types of beauty that can be found all over the world.

well if our hair is so great, then why do we need to straighten and relax our hair, since it is so difficult to work with? i don't see how so many women on this very board are getting upset about that comment, since deep down, a lot of women on this board feel that way. a lot of you wish you had hair like white women. this way you would feel that your hair was "more managable", instead of the nappy, dry, and hard to detangle hair that you were born with.
