Hello for all those who have jewelry that has been tarnished or blackened just slap some toothepaste on it and clean it with a toothbrush. It works wonders on all jewelry but especially does the trick in reversing the effects of MTG, BT and all other mixtures containing sulfur. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I have some dark jewlery that needs fixing!

It absolutely works wonders the black dissapears instantly.....i would suggest a regular white paste. It also works to clean all jewelry...gold rings and diamonds and such. My grandmother taught me this along time ago!!!

OMG....sorry but I can't edit it and it is really urking my nerves but the title should state "If your jewelry HAS been tarnished" Whoa I had to get that off my chest:lol: !!!!!

 I wish I would have found out about this weeks ago. I just toss out on of my favorite earrings because they were black from the homemade sulfur concoction that I made a while back. Darn it!!!!!!!!!!!

Knowing me I would have held on to those earrings for dear life until somebody discovered something!!!!! I'm so sorry you through it away but......now you know!! I cleaned all my tarnished jewelry yesterday and now its like bling bling!!!

Good Job juices&berries, I totally forgot about that method. I used it back in the day on my silvers.

However, there is another way to even prevent the tarnishing cause I tend to sleep with my earrings on and never take them off. "Coat the earrings with clear nail polish."

This method also helps for those who are allergic to certain earrings. Just put it on the part that goes into the ear.

I also found that baking powder (like arm and hammer) that is placed on a slightly damp wash cloth works wonders also on cleaning tarnished jewelry....HTH

Baking soda probably works better than toothpaste. I think that it is the active ingredient in toothpaste that makes it work anyway. The only thing is that is a powder and might be more abrasive in its pure form. But I would try it without hesitation.

Thanks for the tip. A year ago I bought Tarnax (sp?), but I still haven't used it on my jewelry yet.

I figured it was right on time. My mom picked up my sulfur concoction wondering why her rings turned black. So you know I had to think of something real quick.....something I hadn't even thought of when my own rings turned black. Thank God for the voice of my Grandma in my head. My mom would have been P.O'd about her silver jewelry!!

I've heard about this also but wouldn't the polish wear off overtime?

Yeah the polish does wear off after a period of time. This method is mostly used for costume jewelry (fake gold and silver) to prevent it from turning green. I would not paint my real jewelry with clear nail polish. I would opt for the baking soda or toothpaste option.
