...then why oil? If products like petroleum are suffocating, assuming you oil your scalp on a regular basis, aren't you suffocating your scalp with the oil as well because it is a sealant?

Just thinking. Help me out here ladies.

I don't use oil/grease anymore, but I do oil my scalp with eo mixes. Since they're essential oils they penetrate instead of coat??

Is that what you meant?

Agreed....What she said.....and natural oils is no where as thick as petroleum

*nod* What all the ladies above me have said - the oils I use sink into my skin, while petroleum based ones don't....

what all the other ladies have said....oils penetrate especially Emu,which has the highest penetrative properties of most oils...do a search on it,your will see the benefit of using it:yep:also Jojoba is the oil closest to our own oil (sebum) that we produce:yep:

Oils are not all greasy and nasty on my scalp and hair.

I oil my scalp with natural oils blends and I never get greasy hair and melted grease on my forehead.

Petroleum is synthetic. Olive and Castor Oils are natural. Synthetic oils coat the surface, a good reason why not to use them on your scalp. Silcones, Mineral Oil and Petroleum are all synthetic, so it's essential to be careful of these oils.

Oils like Jojoba protect the surface without clogging pores, while providing a healthy environment to grow hair. Many natural oils are good for this.

Honestly, using nothing at all on the scalp has helped me get the best progress. The problem is not needing a moisturized scalp; many problems start with a dry, brittle hair shaft and a clogged scalp. For me, keeping a clean scalp every day while nourishing the hair and ends has been beneficial.

Also, using natural oils every day can be bad if used in excess. Anything can clog pores if used in excess, so I would use oils sparingly if daily washing wasn't part of my routine.

This answers most of what I was asking. Thank all of you ladies for your answers.
