If you have damaged hair do you.....

I have been doing both weekly. It has helped a lot with the breakage. I keep my hair in a single braid all week. Try it and see if it works

My hair was severely damaged when I came to LHCF. I learned (Cathy Howse method) to wash and deep condition 2x each week with a good moisturizing conditioner and protein conditioner every two weeks.

I still do this except my protein is every few washes which sometimes means every three weeks (I"m trying to remember to do protein more often).

Isis you've obviously done something right b/c your hair is absolutely beautiful!! Is it waist length?

this is what I did when I was relaxed. I used Nexxus therapee poo & humectress conditioner(sometime w/heat others times w/o) the protein treatment I used was Nexxus keraphix. I always followed it with the humectress conditioner. I pre-pooed most of the time w/Suave's milk and honey co and honey or Tropical coconut co.

I think my hair is much better now for deep conditioning each weekend, but I believe I am going to have to do it twice a week esp with the amount of gym time I plan to have.

LHCF makes me spend money

Now I use the IC and ORS packs for $1.19, if I can find something that does hte same thing in a bottle, I am good to go.

I Deep Condition twice a week and reconstruct every 6wks w/heavy protein and every 3wks w/light protein, always followed by a very moisturizing DC.

BWE this looks like a great plan. If only I had a plan like this when I was relaxed

What is the difference between using a deep conditioner that contains protein and a reconstructor? Is everyone strictly using a product that says "reconstructor" on the label? I use a deep conditioner once or twice weekly...it contains protein as well. I also use Aphogee's Treatment for Damaged Hair every six weeks...if I'm not mistaken it isn't marketed as a "reconstructor" but as a "treatment".

I wonder about this too. I always thought if your deep conditioner contained some protein then you were covered when it came to the need for a light protein.
I deep condition twice a week. On top of this I use Aphogee treatment every 6-8 weeks or as needed.

my hair was damaged and was breaking off due to overprocessing. I did an aphogee treatment(only once) it stopped breakage immediately. I didn't get a relaxer for 6 months. I deep conditioned(no protein) every single week sometimes sleeping overnight with plastic cap and conditioner in hair.

When my hair was damaged, conditioning weekly with a moisturizing conditioner under a heating cap for 30 min. made my hair thrive
I would also use a protein conditioner (nexxus emergencee) once a month.

Are you ladies that deep condition 2/week also shampooing 2/week or shampooing once and co-washing once?

I usually shampoo once (and condition) and co-wash once (and condiion) each once a week. I hope that made sense!

Thank you Lea5! :) No, my hair is not waist length yet... my torso is short so it won't be too much longer.

I shampoo and deep condition 2x per week. My shampoo is made for chemically treated hair (Botanoil shampoo) and I make sure I make only one shampoo pass on my scalp mostly (I used to do 3 passes of shampoo - very drying!). Co-washing doesn't work well on my hair for some reason.

do you all think that doing these protein treatments would help with hair fall? i seem to lose a lot of hair and can never figure out why..lol...

i used to use cholesterol but it was wayyyy to drying on my hair...any other protein/deep conditioner products you ladies use?

It's my understanding that hair needs strength, moisture, good porosity, and elasticity. So, I use four different conditoners: protein (deep), moisturizing (deep), acidifying (rinse) and reconstructor (deep). The protein gives tensile strength. The moisturizer, umm, moisturizes much like lotion on skin. Acidifiers improve porosity. Reconstructors rebuild the keratin for better elasticity.

Here's a test I use periodically to decided when it's time to switch conditioners. I'm no expert, but it seems to be working:think:.

Is there a veteran in the house? We need some council over here! :yep:

I agree with what hair needs as far as moisture, strength...etc. But you say you use 4 different conditioners to take care of these needs. I was curious for those of us who use just one 'all-in-1' conditioners KWIM? For instance I usually use one conditioner that supposedly moisturizes and at the same time contains some protein and is pH balanced.
But when I see the need I will use motions CPR or Aphogee, but thats not very often.
So far it seems to be working for me but do you not think that will be enough in the long run?

(From the looks of your hair, I might have to get 4 different conditioners and forget my 4-in-1:lol: )
