deep conditioning once or twice a week with heat is key for me.
detangling with a COMB once a week.
i can not skip treatments and cowash only and not comb my hair for more than a week while i am transitioning. i shed too much and that shed hair combined with two textures equals disaster waiting to happen. i'm lucky i didn't have a major setback. i learned my lesson.......
Yep, currently recovering from this. Just finger detangling and the occasional comb was fine before transitioning/doing such a long stretch (I haven't 100% committed yet). I can't do that now. I figure that at this point, the amount of hair I lose from regularly using a comb may be more than a finger detangle, but it's still less than the hair I lose when dealing with knots.
That's my latest little set back that's keeping me from fully reaching my goal. My other one is just neglecting my hair. I have so much going on that the last thing I ever feel like doing is washing, protein treatment, DC, detangling, and styling. I'm still working on simplifying my regimen so I can spend less time on my hair without it suffering. Oh, and sometimes I'm just bored with my hair and don't feel like dealing with it.

I also discovered I can't do buns or ponytails like I used to. Too many tangles even when I use a comb. Now I need a new quick go to protective style.
Between all of this new growth and texlaxed hair, I have a lot of shrinkage. I haven't flat ironed in over a year so if it's worn out it's curly (braid outs). The henna really weighed my hair down tonight so I could see my length after so long. Some of my stands are very close to MBL and my goal for the year was full BSL. If only I didn't endure so much breakage and have to trim I'd be full BSL (my goal for the year) and headed for MBL (overall goal) now. Oh well, there's next year.
