If it ain't broke...

I typically don't post much but after a wash and DC session with some new products I just had to try this morning, I wanted to share my experience as well as send a message to the PJs and pushers of this board.

After reading the L'Occitane thread about the Repairing poo and conditioner mask, I couldn't wait to order and see what those wonderful sounding products could do for my 23 month-post hair. Since their website was sold out of those products, I went on ahead and purchased the Olive Tree Daily Shampoo and Olive Tree Healthy Hair Mask.

By the way, I have a regimen that is perfection and none of my must-haves are more than $6 bucks a jar/bottle.

So, I always wash and DC my hair in braids once a week to keep the tangles at bay. When i went to unbraid one individual plait to detangle it with my wide-tooth shower comb, that thang (yes, I mean thang) locked up like Ft Knox. My hair is still full of the mask that I left sit for 15 mins while in the shower. No slip, whatsoever. F'n straight up locked my hair.

I rinsed that mess out and slathered my hair with my trusty Pantene Relaxed and Natural Mask, left it on for 5 mins, then proceeded to detangle my hair EFFORTLESSLY.

Thanks goodness I did not suffer a setback.

Moral of the story: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I know everyone's hair is different but if you've got good products and a good regimen AND it's not harming your progress, LEAVE IT ALONE. My PJism got a hold of me and I temporarily lost my mind. :nono: Could've lost my hair too.

This L'Occitane Shampoo and Mask may end up on the exchange forum very soon. The poo is 8.4oz and has probably 8oz left. I only used about a half dollar sized amount. The Mask is 8.8oz and I probably used an ounce, if that.

Love you ladies and I had to share.

Oh yeah I hear ya. I don't try new products anymore unless I'm given a sample or I get it off a swap. I bought useless products for one year. chuck it up to experience. I'm sure somebody will buy it off you if you sell it on the swap board.

Okay. Do you have any more transitioning texture shots? It's been a year since you updated those in your fotki and i think we have the same hair types...

I'm sorry it did not work out for you, but you are right--if your regimen is giving good results then it's best to just leave it be! I'm trying to keep my pjism in check too.

I always forget to take pics of the transitioning hair but I will next week before I straighten it for Valentine's Day. Thanks for reminding me.

You are right about that. I totally know better than to buy some ish I have never tried especially expensive ish. :lachen:

You know what's so funny, though? I bought all kinds of hand creams, lip glosses and soaps from L'occitane with that recent order to get the free shipping. I liked those items, by the way, but they sent samples of the repairing mask too.

*Sigh* You live and learn.
