LOVED it!!!!! I was soooo happy I went. Mind you, I didn't get anything done today. I met with Miko who was so nice to me. She explained all my options and even suggested that I wait a few more months to get the BC so that I'll maximize the length I'll have when I cut. But the best part was seeing all those ladies there with absolutley gorgeous curls, just like I want to have eventually. Very pricey

...... but looking at the ladies leaving the salon, it seems to be worth it. Just wanted to let you guys know!!

Glad you like it

it's nice that Miko encouraged you to wait for your BC instead of just trying to "get you into the chair"

i think things sound like they were very positive

That is cool...

I called them and had a not so great experience over the phone - but nothing beats an in person visit.

That is nice that she suggested to wait. The pictures are gorgeous but my quesion is how easy is it for those ladies to maintain that at home.

Tracy: What was your over the phone experience??

CBG: They seem to really prepare you for your at home care. They give a lot of samples. They give you a printed care sheet to take with you to tell you how to wash and style your hair on your own. They even gave me a huge free sample of the Curly Buttercreme and this is like a 3-4 oz jar full!! It would last me at least a month. Even though they were really busy today, I don't feel like I was rushed or anything and they have really gorgeous hair themselves. Titi's was like Kelis' in the Milkshake video.

That is great news. I too will be going for an appointment. I feel that if I have at least 7 inches I will get the best results. What does BC mean? How long is your hair now?

They just seemed (to me only, I checked with the board and everyone disagreed - so I was probably just being too sensitive

) to only want to deal with natural or ready to be natural hair.

OR if your were interested in the silkener, they seemed to insist that it couldn't be achieved on previously "texturized" hair (in other words just have them begin their process on the new growth and go from there) unless the relaxer was completely grown/cut out.

They insisted that it would be necessary to chop off already texturized hair where the patron was looking to "silken" - and "start over" - even though all their silkener really seems to me to be, is a regular mild lye relaxer (which I already have) left on for a short period of time (which I already do) and not smoothed a lot (again - which I already do)...

I've heard a lot of people who are natural, or interested in being natural, have a wonderful experience there though...(Sounds like you're one of them.

) and I'm sure their "from scratch" silkener patrons would testify to the same, so I think my goals just didn't jibe with their philosophy....just a bad fit.

hi, how do you like the buttercreme? do you know how much they charge for a jar?

thanks for answering my questions.

LisaG - My new growth is about 5-6 inches long stretched. I have about 10- 12 inches of relaxed ends so I will wait til may to do the BC and probably silken (texturize)at the same time.

bellydancer - They are expensive but since I've invested the last 7 months growing out my hair, I can't risk going to some hairdresser who doesn't know what they're doing and ruining my hard work. The silkener starts at $175 and goes up according to your hair texture and density.

Jaquai - I just used the buttercreme on my edges today to help them lay down. It was OK but I think I need to wash my hair and use it on clean hair to really see the effect it will have on my hair. The sample was free and I didn't ask the regular price of the full size product. Sorry!!

What exactly is the buttercreme and do they still use the glass or just the buttercreme now??

Actually I just went to their site and they have Curly buttercreme, curly pudding and, curly meringue. Ooooo I need to find out about these products.

thanks

thank you. i understand what you are saying! I've had so many hairdresssers mess up my hair that I don't mind spending a little extra to get it done right.
