I want so bad to either color or put highlights...

in my hair, but I'm afraid to. I am just getting my hair to look like something and get healthy. I really want hightlights but I would have to do them myself. So my questions are:

1. What is the best way to do hightlights if I decide to do it
2. Should I/Can I do them 6 weeks post relaxer if I'm not planning on a touch up for at least 2 more weeks
3. How do I maintain them.

well, I did mine myself. I basically ""weaved" out the strands I wanted to do......I did them kinda thick so, I guess you could say they are chunky looking........I like the results but I must say I have to be EXXXXXXtra careful with my hair now... I did mine about 2 weeks after a touch up...and I waited to get a retouch 3 weeks later than I normally do ( 11 weeks)

After i intially did mine I did about 3 weeks of con. Washes, and braidouts, deep conditioned with protein and stayed away from heat as much as poss.

Now, I'm basically deep conditioning, I recently purchased a steamer for really deep cond. I reapplied a rinse ( 2 days ago) and I roller set and wrap...I'm staying away from blowing my roots now. When the weather gets nice I will go back to cond. washes for a while. I feel like they are healthy for the most part but I'm extra concerned now.

I probably won't do my roots....i don't feel like thats necessary right now...maybe in the fall/winter if they look horrible. The reason is I don't want to handle the timing of retouching my relaxer vs color...I don't think I can figure that out yet and the rinse I put in "covers"/blends it fine to me for now...Hope this helps and ....
