I want highlights!

I was thinking about a reddish-brown,cinnamon, burgundy type color. Just some subtle, natural looking streaks throughout my hair to brighten it up. My stylist was telling me that my hair was very healthy and that I wouldn't suffer from damage if I got them. I was thinking about using the Aveda dye because it's made of mostly all natural ingredients. Look at my album and tell me how you think they would look:)

you can get natural highlights from lemon juice and sunlight....nothin more natural looking than natural! :D

oh wow i had forgotten about the sun! when i was a kid my hair would turn this golden reddish brown color from when we would take our yearly visits to florida...thanks for the reminder!

how do i use the lemons? do i just squeeze the juice on and let it sit or is there some sort of process? do i apply it all over my hair or just in different sections? what color will it turn my hair? will it look natural? and more importantly, will it damage my hair at all?

I have heard only good things about the Aveda hair colors. I was told that they were made without bleach and peroxide. When I grow my relaxer out, I will get my highlighs done there.

That's exactly what I did and I LOVE my color! Pics in this album of the color:

It may be hard to see here, but th ecolor you described is exactly how mine came out. Beware that there are precautions... your hair might come out a different color if left in too little or too long!

Thanks!

I applied it all over, but mostly in the front and top. I made a mixture of lemon juice and conditioner and just spritzed and sat in the sun. I did it over a few weekends though, and my hair just got lighter and lighter.

I also put real lemon on my hair at times as well and it's a beautiful Auburn color. I've also recently relaxed my hair again, and you can see a bit of demarcation from my new growth, but it looks even better because you can really see the highlights now that it's straighter, and more of my natural color coming through as well, so it looks like I have high and low lights!

HTH,
SG
