I decided to do my touch up at the begining of week 15. I couldn't manage my hair w/o heat after I took my braids out. For me the benefits of stretching were being out-weighed by the use of heat. I had to blow dry and use the flat iron to get my new growth to blend in and to make combing possible.

I use to use Dark n' lovely regular no lye even though I heard that it is a very harsh relaxer. I had been trying to decide on a new relaxer for a while now but I never got around to making a choice until yesterday. After hearing a lot of good things about Mizani sensitive scalp I decided to be brave and go for it. I almost went with Phyto but I didn't feel like going out of my way to get it and I couldn't get the Affirm at my BSS.

I left it on for the recommended time of 17-20 minutes for coarse hair even though I normally leave my relaxer in longer cuz my hair is very resistant.

Well, my hair did NOT get straight! My new growth was very soft but it is noticeably different in textures...so I am underprocessed. But I like it a lot! I'm going to stick to this relaxer. My hair didn't feel stripped even after being washed with nuetralizing poo several times. After I conditioned it with Rysell's Aloe vera treatment...my hair felt even better. It was soft and had a lot of slip. I used a quarter sized amount of Salerm 21 and mixed in some olive oil...then I rollerset my hair.

My hair is really underprocessed! After I took my rollers out I saw the difference in the roots...so I took out my dryer and blew the roots Dominican style..but it really was only the root....and after that things were fine.

I'm not sure how things are going to work when I get some more new growth...it's really going to be wait and see as to whether this relaxer is going to hold up well but I will post more on that when the time comes.

Hey Falon, I used to use Mizani too, don't you have to be a licensed stylist to buy that stuf?? Anywhoo, the first couple times I used the relaxer I loved it and it seemed to relax my hair very well, in fact, my hair texture changed dramatically, very sliky. Best of all, it didn't burn my scalp, like other relaxers. Well after the 3rd time using it, it wouldn't take to my hair for some reason. I'd leave the salon with straight hair, and a week later, i would actually be severely underprocessed :-( I've since switched to Optimum Multi-Mineral.

Falon, I don't know anything about Mizani, used it once, but went back to Creme of Nature. However, I was cracking up at your caption. Your bf needs to talk to my hubby. My husband thought that I was nuts, because I kept asking him to take pics of my hair WAY before I found LHCF.

Then when he saw all of the albums here he said, he was going to shut up

@ Camille: Yeah you are supposed to be licensed but I buy so much stuff from my local BSS they let me buy anything! I am making them rich. lol.

@ Webby, my bf has had enough of my hair obsession he has already asked me how long do I want my hair to grow? Don't I have enough right now? He rolls his eyes when I ask him to take pics now so I just do it myself. But he likes to play with my hair so go figure?

Falon, your hair is very thick indeed after the touch-up. You did a good job there. Thank you for sharing your photographs.

@ Valerie Thank you I love your color. I am so tempted to add some highlights or something but I have had bad experiences with color so I'm scurred.

@Faith...thank you but I can't wait until I get to your length....it seems so far away right now.
