Hi all,
I'm a newbie, obviously. I used to be a lurker, but I converted.
I have very tight, fine 4a hair with infinite shrinkage. (e.g., when natural, my shoulder length pressed hair will shrink to a one inch fro)
As such, hairdressers would consistently overprocess my hair due to looking at the tightness of curl and disregarding the extreme fineness. Mizani used to turn my hair to mush. My hair has done much better in my own hands, as far as maintaining growth. (no overprocessing - I'm more of a texlaxer)
I bought the sensitive scalp Mizani and applied and smoothed it for 25 minutes total, rinsed it out - it didn't seem to process my hair at all.
HOWEVER, when I did a "neck perm" just on my edges and back of neck for 20 minutes, it came out smooth, straight, soft (sealed cuticle), strong and in perfect condition.
I read that someone else had an issue with Mizani "not taking."
What do you do to make sure that the first place you apply the perm is not damaged by the time the last part of your head is finished processing?
My (Italian) haircutter recommends that I do my relaxer in two parts. (relax and shampoo the front and then relax and shampoo the back) This has worked well for me (with other relaxers). Does anyone relax in more than two sections?
