I took some Avocado and some Honey and worked it out *PIC HEAVY*

You have some gorgeous curls! How did your hair feel post and how does it feel now? Additionally how much honey did you use? I dont think I used my honey properly because it just made my hair sticky.

Girl, you're asking too many specifics... I did this at like 3 AM I ain't measure nothing! hahah

My hair post- didn't feel as compact as it normally does when I wake up... usually the girls are so matted down and compressed to my head. Today I could tell the curls were looser, not as tightly wounded, but that could have been because they were wet and weighed down by the mixture.

I applied this mixture to dry hair, but obviously this morning when I woke up and took off the shower cap and seran wrap and scarf my hair was wet.

It was easy to rinse out... wasn't sticky. In fact it wasn't sticky in application even though I was quite generous with the honey globs I squeezed in. I think the constant blending helped emulsify the honey and avocado into a pretty uniform concoction.

Right now my hair feels good. It was starting to dry out a bit, so I applied a generous amount of Hawaiian Silky and Africa's Best Herbal Hair oil... but I know from experience it is way softer than it would have been if I just did my usual Co-washing in the morning. So it did it's job.

today my afro looks fuller and bigger (even though I didn't pick it out or anything.) My hair has defined curls and is nice and full. Usually I can only a big bad afro if I use and afro pick and actually pull apart my curls.

Here's my hair NOW.... I did put some Hawaiian Silky and Africa's Best Oil on my hair... but here is is SUPER dry, not damp

It looks lush and juicy!:lick:
I bought an avocado some months ago after reading a thread here but I forgot about it and it sat in my fridge forever. This is going on my grocery list!

What's with the lips?! I like the pouty look

I LOVE your hair pics. I'm usually not one to go drooling over hair porn, but I did a very slow scrolling over your pics. I enjoyed them all :lachen:

I think I'm the last natural to ever use Avocado. Guess I'm going to pick up one soon along with a blender.

Thanks for sharing.

I have NOOOOOOO clue why I did that with my lips... I temporarily lost my mind.. haha

I suggest getting a good blender.. like one for frozen margaritas b/c our blender was dumb.

OMG we are?!?!?!?!?!??!?!? I sorta get frustrated with my hair b/c its 99 different textures with each texture having different needs.... I either want it to be uniformly curly or uniformly nappy, I dunno if I can keep dealing with this hodgepodge of both.

....

This sounds just like my hair!! The front and crown and nape is a looser texture than the sides. It can get VERY frustrating. :ohwell:

Hey:wave:, I'm in the multi-textured hair club too. We gotta stick together and encourage each other! My crown is wavy-ish, still kinky though, I consider it 3cish, the rest of my hair is some combo of 4a & 4b. My nape and the hair just above my ears shrink the most, very very tightly coiled. But I am finally learning to accept it and work with it. I think our hair is beautiful even if it is a little complicated:).

Not that long, I used a blender because Oren_Green warned me.

Plus the avocado was a little OVERLY ripped for eating, so it mashed up really easily. Basically it took a good 10 mins of chronic rinsing and shaking my hair underneath the shower to get all the clunk out. I was noticing random bits of avocado skin falling out of my hair, more so than chunks of the avocado's pulp... or w/e you call the innards.

Oh and the honey wasn't sticky after I put it in the blender... I didn't measure I just put a few glumps of honey into the blender haha.

I used to have that problem - I stopped using fruits, etc., for conditioning treatments coz I simply could not get them to rinse out of my hair and I would be shedding bits for days. But I wasn't adding commercial conditioner - I see you used aussie moist in your treatment and I think that's key to helping the avocado slide out along with the conditioner.

Your hair is GORGEOUS! But I'm so allergic to avocado I'm feeling itchy just looking at the mixture :perplexed

My hair type spans 3c to 4b. I find bigger curls around the front middle of my head as one radiates outward the hair becomes more tightly coiled.

Here are some texture shots of my dry hair with I suppose some type of product in it, but I'm not sure.

my hair dripping wet

Your hair is so freaking pretty.

Really cute, how long have you been natural? And did you transition or BC?

Well I started off stretching my relaxer... my first stretch was 6 months then I panicked because I didn't know how to deal with my hair. I was trying to treat my new growth like relaxed hair, so I caved and relaxed. Then I tried to do the stretching the relaxer/ transition again.... I made it again to the 6 months point, freak out again and went to the BSS to get my ors olive oil relaxer, but the guy at the BSS looked at me (then 6 months of ng) and he exclaimed I didn't need a relaxer. So I put the relaxer down and continued on with my transition.

I transitioned for a month or so shy of a year... I knew I'd eventually have to cut off my relaxed ends and randomly did it on super bowl sunday 2010 at my aunts house. My older cousin who had transitioned and went natural before told me I was looking crazy being half natural and half relaxed... which is true I had the most jacked up looking pony tails.

so to answer your question... I transitioned for about a year.... BC'ed on super bowl sunday 2010. Here's my BC thread with pictures.

I just uploaded the pictures onto my other Photobucket account... but the texture shots I posted are randomly on my computer some where.. but once that under accounts bandwidth gets reset they'll come back up.
