and the growth is very significant. After about 3 months of wearing weaves (I took them out every 6 weeks or so and had them redone)I have 4.5 - 5.5 inches of hair, and 3 inches around the edges. Plus my hair is so thick, I have to go through it in sections now. I got my big chop in January and started with maybe 1-2 inches of hair, now I can get it in a ponytail, but the edges are still short. I did a hot oil treatment last night with castor, olive, rosemary and ylang ylang oils. I did shed like a cat but after the treatment last night I don't see anymore hair. I 'm going to get cocunut milk and limes and try that treatment from the 'straighten your hair the natural way' thread. I think I'm gonna leave my hair out for two weeks and pamper it before I get another protective style.I am sooo in love right now

Excellent Job!! I would love to make a concotion of oils too but I'm a wimp. (I like the smell of Ylang Ylang). Try some curl activator too. It may shrink your hair but the moisture is wonderful. World of curls is my fav.

... I've been toying with the ides of weaving for a while. your growth sounds great, congrats!

well done. how did you maintain your weave? did you wash it?how did you treat your hair BEFORE the weave went in? deatils please!

My weaves are maintenance free. I clean my scalp with lemon juice rosemary oil and ylang ylang or sometimes I use ORS herbal cleanse.I try to wash twice a month with Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo but I ended up only washing once a month. I do a deep treatment before and after my weave. The oils I use are castor, olive, rosemary, ylang ylang, jojoba and vitamin E. When my hair is out I conditioner wash daily with Jason Biotin conditioner and Paul Mitchell The Cream leave in conditioner. The first weave was a curly one that I didn't have to comb or brush I could just get up shake and go. The last one was a wavy 22" weave that I just wore up in a twist. I had the edges in micros to make it look like I had micros. I am gonna let my hair breathe for about two weeks before I decide what style I'll try next.

How my stylist weaves it (she's also my cousin)is side to side, so that the weave falls covering the edges. Then with the little piece that we left out to the front we cut off some hair left over from the weft of the curly weave and added a few micros to that area for it to blend in. People could not believe that the weave was not my hair. I got alot of compliments with that one. I'm thinking I may do that again. It was not too long or too short. I will make sure to take pic this time
