I think my hair has grown over an inch in one month!

I measured my hair on February 16th because it was beginning my vitamin regimen and wanted to journal my progress and to determine if the addition of vitamins would make a significant difference in my HHJ. So I measured my hair on 2/17 both sides left(12in), right(10), bangs(@nose) and back layers(6 and 3). Lengths in (). * Okay, I'm trying to stretch my relaxers so that I don't overlap and I don't want anymore setbacks. But, *yesterday was 5 weeks and my new growth is unmanageable. *I was trying to wait at least 8wks. Well out of curiosity I decided to measure my hair again today. I wasn't going to do the next measurement until 3/17. And the left side is 13.5 inches the right side is 12 inches the bangs are past my nose. The back is 7.5 and 4!!!! I also measured from the root to the line of demarcation and it's from 1 to 1 1/2 inches is various locations.*

Congrats for 1 inch in a month, that's pretty much what everyone wants ideally but you KNOW you can't just be claiming that with no pics AND no vitamin regi, come on now!

I will post pics soon. I left my camera at work and the LHCF app doesnt have a function for adding pics. I'm new to all of this. I've always been a fast grower, but I've never recorded or documented my growth. Never even thought about it until I found this forum. Anyway, after searching the threads and seeing what was working for others I decided what I was willing to try and not try. I believe that hair growth is stimulated from within so I'm not interested in topicals so I decided on vitamins.

Long story short: daily I intake 5000 mcg of Biotin; 1500 mg of MSM; and 1 Walgreen's brand prenatal vitamin. I also drink at least 70 oz of water daily. Pretty simple I think.

Side note: I'm new to the board and I know pics are nice to look at, but um I wouldn't make statements about something as trivial as hair if it weren't true. :nono:
I'm really sending my thanks and a shout out to the positive ladies who have provided me with this valuable information. Before coming to this board I'd never heard of MSM and didn't know Biotin could be effective for hair growth. I just thought it helped your nails. My post is to ENCOURAGE others that may visit this site to know that the information posted here is valuable and worth trying.

Am I mis-calculating here? You said you measured on 2/17, today is 3/3. I make that just over 2 week? That's nothing short of a miracle! Well done :)

*sigh*

I do wonder if some parts of our hair have spurts while most of it continues on its normal route.
I notice the left middle side of my grows faster and longer than any other part. I dunno.

I agree. My lefy side is growing like a weed and my right like milasses. I refuse to trim for this very reason. I dont want to stifle one side bc of the other.

It does. When you compose a reply there is an option to add attachments. You can add a saved picture or take one with your camera.

What brands of Biotin were you using? I used to take 12000 mcg of biotin for 5 months and got no results. im thinking it may just be me or it could be the brand of biotin i got.

Marking my spot. It's never good to make those claims without pictures round these here parts. Congrats on the growth spurt though.

I measured on 2/17, but I'm calculating from the relaxer date of 1/27. Yesterday would put me at 5 weeks post. So, it would be a full month @ 2/27 and this week would be week five? I've never really paid much attention to the amount of growth as in inches or cm. I normally go by body parts. At ear, past ears, touching shoulder, etc. my stylist always gave me a trim at every relaxer and I relaxed at 6 weeks faithfully. I was cut from full SL to about a 1/2 inch below EL on the sides now the longest side is touching my collarbone. I really wish I was at work and could post comparison pics! It's driving me crazy. Lol!!!!

Am i going crazy? I don't get what you are saying :lol::lol: If you measured on 2/17 and then again in March that would mean you got that growth in just a few weeks, which would mean that you got even more growth when added to your relaxer date.

I'mma sit back and let you finish, but just wanted to say that i'm lost

So, is it 5 weeks or

I had a very nice member to inbox me. Thanks for the advice!!!! *I'm not trying to cause a small riot or any confusion. I live drama free, or at least try to. Let me give you my back story in a nut shell:*
I've always had long thick hair
My beloved favorite aunt was a professional stylist and my hairdresser since I was a child*
She lost her battle with breast cancer in April 2011
Before her departure she was too sick to work and I was forced to find a new HS
I'd been going to the new HS every week for the last 2years
I believe she got upset when I stopped coming every week and intentionally damaged my hair during the last relaxer she gave me (10/2011)
I would normally get my aunts advice about my hair, but........
I began researching online and found LHCF
I lurked for awhile then joined and subscribed
I searched threads and looked for ways to restore my hair
My hair was too damaged and I opted for a short cut (angled bob) (1/27)
I loved the bob, but it's not a long term style for me, so I*
Decided to search the board for ways to enhance hair growth
Topicals (mega tek, etc): *not for me, I *decided on vitamins and supplements

I began taking vitamins (prenatal & biotin ) and supplements (MSM) on 2/6
On 2/17 I decided to begin a hair journal. So I measured and recorded my length
Okay, let's jump to today: New growth feels unusually thick for 5 weeks (last relaxer 1/27) so I decide to measure again. From root to line of demarcation is about 1 to 1.5 inches so I added that to my measurements from 2/17. So, thats why I said: I THINK I grew 1 to 1.5 inches in a month. It's been one month since I started taking the vitamins and supplements, and five weeks since my last relaxer. I wish I could post pics using my iPad.*

sorry but no one cares without pictures posted.... no offense

i literally just skipped your last post (the one above this one) because i don't see any pictures....

So you measured and started taking the vitamins on 2/17...Today you measured again and saw 1.5-2 inches of growth.

Average growth is .5 a month so 2 inches in 2 weeks is amazing. Count yourself very lucky.:yep:

That's what's confusing people.
You can't add your new growth numbers to your measurements from 2/17 if you actually relaxed two weeks prior. Doing it that way attributes your growth in the full five weeks to that space of time between 2/17 and today.

In fact, you shouldn't add your new growth to your measurements at all, honestly. If you're gonna measure your hair that way, you should always measure from root to tip to get an accurate picture of what's happening. Only measuring the new growth and adding it to old measurements makes the assumption that you have 100% retention, which might not be the case.
