I think i'm gonna give up + WnG Questions

As you can see in my avatar pic, my hair is extremely curly. Its so fragile that if a comb even goes near it, it starts breaking off. Right now i'm at a loss of what i'm going to do with my hair. The ends are getting really dry but they are not split.
Twists are not working for me anymore - they are unravelling for some reason.
I can't flat iron as my hair is recovering from a marcel iron attack.
Extensions, weaves and all that are a no-no as they irritate my scalp and break my hair.
Blow drying is just ridiculous - there is hair everywhere and quite frankly i have no idea how to do it properly on my hair type.

I'm at a point where i'm going to give up on growing my hair natural and just shave it into a cropped style and get it texturized.

The only thing i can think of to do with it is WnG's but i'm not sure i'm doing it right..........

What do i do with my hair at night? Because in the morning i look like a fright. (i tie my hair in a satin scarf - not that it makes a difference)

Is there any way that a wash n go can last for more than one day?

Must i co-wash the next morning and every morning?

Could wearing a baggy every night omit having to wash - i mean i wet it, put on a little leave-in then baggy it?

Is just rinsing with water just as effective?

Will too much wetting of my hair cause it to break even more?

Do i have to detangle it at every wash?

---- I have found that if i put products onto soaking wet hair, the products are diluted and my hair is very dry at the end of the day. I now wrap in a towel for a few minutes first.

Wow...you are at a dilemma. One question that I can answer for you is Yes, you have to detangle after avery wash. Otherwise your hair is just a ball of tangles. And that will lead to massive breakage. Maybe you need to shop around and find a hair stylist that will really care about your hair and let them take care of it for you. I'm natural and I cannot do wash and go's. My hair is past bra strap and that is too much hair for me to keep untangled in its natural state. My hair does very well being straightened twice a month with heat. But don't give up on your hair! Keep fighting to save it!

OK chica, first things first what's your regimen? Are you incorporating some protein into your co-washes (I think it helps even/ especially for naturals), why don't you cornrow the front and get a curly/ afro half wig for the back, and or get a curly/ afro kinky drawsting ponytail, your hair is protected but you still have some style options:yep:

Pinkskates - yes, i'm thinking my hair would thrive better if it was in a stretched state....all these curls are just asking to be broken.
I know you work out often so how do you maintain it? Don't your rotts sweat out?
I also agree that i need to find someone that can tell me what my hair needs...i just don't knwo where to go.....unless i spend a whole heap of money here in the UK.

Hi HotHair - My regime? I don't have one. I chop and change just about every day. Its seems like my hair 'decides' it doesn't like something anymore.
I use protein but not on a regular basis...
For the past 2 weeks i
Pre-poo with Treseme Moisture conditioner
poo with Poristy Control or Creme of Nature Detangling
Condition with Motions Treatment Conditioner
Rinse then apply Treseme again and rinse off.
I then apply any of the 100's of leave-in's i've collected..the last time i used Black & Beautiful Carrot Gro Oil Moisturiser
Sealed with Amla Oil (just discovered this and i like it)

I wash twice a week. Its the after i wash my hair part that gets me - how do i style it?

Cornrowing the front is a good idea but looks wise my head looks so big in cornrows! On it's own the front of my hair won't fit into a ponytail unless i use loads of gel to hold it down.

OMG i sound like a Moaning Minnie.

Girl, don't you live in South London? Come and do my hair!!!

I put mine into a loose french braid or loosely band it. In the morning, I spray it with liquid leave-in conditioner then unbraid fluff and let it dry without touching it again.

Yep (see above). I go for 2-3 days.

Must i co-wash the next morning and every morning?

Nope. :nono:

Could wearing a baggy every night omit having to wash - i mean i wet it, put on a little leave-in then baggy it?

That'll work. :yep:

My didn't like that as much as using conditioner. Even if you just dilute your favorite conditioner and put it in a spray bottle use something besides water.

Will too much wetting of my hair cause it to break even more?

I don't think so, as long as you handle it with care. Rough handling and wet hair is a recipe for disaster.

Do i have to detangle it at every wash?

No WAY!! If your hair is breaking from combing the last thing you want to do it comb it. Have you tried lo-mani. There are plenty of naturals on the challenge. My hair is texturized, but I wear a WnG every single day and I only comb my hair once every two weeks. Oil rinses are an absolute must to keep tangles at bay and keep the curls defined and soft.

NP, good luck.

I wanted to add that the reason I say you must detangle after every wash, is because I have to detangle my 100% natural hair after every wash, otherwise my hair is a mass of tangles. I get no help from texturizers; so I don't have the benefit of a looser curl pattern.
I maintain my hair when I workout by keeping it off of my skin. My hair is always wrapped when I workout at home; and when I skate it's in a high ponytail. And to be honest, I'm not a heavy sweater; and my at-home workout is for 20 minutes and it's very low maintenance and I rarely even break a sweat. So I'm lucky in that regard. I use Aveda Anti-humectant pomade on my hair and it does an awesome job of preventing my roots from reverting. Good Luck with your hair!

Aaahh I see well first things first, my problem too is I have NO idea what to do with short natural hair and my hair tangles loads with wash n gos, so I wash my hair in plaits till its almost dry. I'm rocking a full head weave until I can at least get it in a ponytail properly. I know a lady that does lovely kinky twists (like Bmore's) with the curly ends for only £50! You can do some just about layered shoulder length. She doesn't pull (I've got a fragile hairline) and she's at Chafford Hundred.

and/or

PM me if you want we can meet up and go to the BSS @ Finsbury Park to find a cute half wig I can cornrow the front for you (although I'm in NW)!

I feel your pain.
What I have begun to do it comb in the shower with conditioner on it to detangle without tearing it a part. Also you need a good leave in so that coats the hair when you comb it out of the shower. I dont let my hair air dry out anymore because thats how it becomes a tangled mess. I wash or co wash and then put a leave in, comb and make four to six braids. in the morning let it get it damp with some water and some more leave in and go. I then braid it up every night. Now I am bunning so I just throw it in a bun. But I find when its time to co wash my hair is not so tangled. Im moisturizing with deep cons and a daily moisturizer like crazy because I have breakage to. Thats why I am bunning to moisturize and as low manipulation. My hair soaks up everything so I know how you feel. Im still searching for the right moisturizer thats doenst make my hair greasy but helps with the drying. HTH.

Is there any way that a wash n go can last for more than one day? I just put a bonnet on it or tie a scarf loosely.

Must i co-wash the next morning and every morning? I generally don't. You can spritz your hair and apply more product to refresh it without having to re wet.

Could wearing a baggy every night omit having to wash - i mean i wet it, put on a little leave-in then baggy it? You could do that. I only do that when I'm DCing overnight. Also, for wash and gos to eliminate the wet hair in the morning, I've done my washing and added my leave in at night before. Then I put it in 4 ponytails and let it air dry over night. Then I added my gel in the morning.

Is just rinsing with water just as effective? Effective as what? Cowashing?

Will too much wetting of my hair cause it to break even more? It shouldn't.

Do i have to detangle it at every wash? I don't but if you are experiencing problems with tangles as it is, then I think you should.
