As y'all know, I started my journey in March.

At the same time, I made the decision to challenge myself and join the "Great Lengths Challenge" and commiting myself to NO direct heat until the end of the year.

Not too long after that, I decided that I would extend the challenge for myslef until FEB and stretch for the entire time (with the ultimate intent of possibly transitioning). AND I will try keeping my hair "hidden" until then.

It is now the middle of July and I want to see my progress!!!!! Everyone is revealing their progress and my hair is just stuck on nap-status!!!!

The only time that I can kinda see some progress is when I put my pre-poo in my hair and wash it. But that is somewhat pseudo to me, b/c nothing beats a bone straight flatiron to show off length!

I am so afraid that I am making all these sacrifices in vain!!!

Am I doing too much? Am I the only one who started their hair journey with a guerilla (sp?) warfare mentality? Should I have waited until I saw at least SOME progress before I incorporated this boot camp regimen?

Oh, well. I guess I will keep plugging along in anticipation for the big reveal in FEB...:ohwell:

Don't give up just so you can see if it's growing!! The naps are your proof that there is healthy hair growth. Keep it up and stick to what you planned to do. It will payoff in the long run, in general hair health, and most likely thickness and length also!

AWWWW, thank you ladies! I appreciate the fact that you recognized my subtle plea for encouragement ;) !

It is just getting tough, y'know? And when you see folks hair swanging...its like, my hair can swang, too, shoot!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and offering those much needed words of encouragement.

ETA: Dillard, your progress is AMAZING! Keep it growing!

I don't think there would be anything wrong with taking a small back section and flat ironing it to do a "length check." When I started my routine, I kept checking to make sure I wasn't doing any damage because I wasn't sure if washing so often was going to be good for my hair. It's been a long time, it will be encouraging for you to see your progress! Good luck and your routine sounds very healthy!

Thanx Denver! :D
Yeah, it's a good compromise to test a small section to check your length. That still might not give you an overall idea of how much you've grown though. The section you choose could end up being one of the shorter sections or a slow growing area so don't be discouraged if you don't notice much growth there. You could also take pics of wet hair to compare!?
