And I love my hair!

I have been using no-lye for years, and I decided to make the big switch today. I used Revlon Realistic, in regular strength, and I just took my hair down from the wrap.

It not bone straight, which is what I wanted, and it's bouncy and smooth, even without flat ironing or curling it.

I trimmed off some hair, but it's still a bit longer, and a LOT fuller!

Thank you to all who offered help, suggestions, and knowledge!

So you really like the REvlon Realistic huh? had you heard good reviews about it before you used it? I currently used the Motions Mild and have had good results from it. Glad you found something that you like!

OOoo I've been wanting to switch to Motions Mild. How is that working, Chaya? What hair type are you? and is it ok to apply the lye even with no lye relaxed hair?

i'm thinking of swithing, but if I use it for a touch up, wouldn't I be able to tell lye relaxed to the no-lye relaxed?

I can tell the difference when it is wet. The lye relaxed is not straight it actually has some shrinkage and is wavy/curly looking. While the ends of my hair are just straight.

I am 3c/4a. I love this relaxer and have never had any problems with it. I dont know anything about no lye relaxers so unfortunately I cant give you any advice on that. Sorry

I really liked the Realistic, but I have no other Lye relaxers to compare it to, since it was my first one. I had heard good things about it, and it was the only lye relaxer available at the store I usually get my hair products from (not a BSS).

I pulled the lye relaxer through all of my hair (the previously relaxed no-lye hair) about 5 minutes before I rinsed. I read that doing that 'conditioned' the no-lye hair. I had no adverse effects, and all of my hair is very shiny and healthy looking.

i dont know if i didn't use the right brands of lye or what, but i've never had anything to rave about. Glad you found something that works for you!
