Ladies... I haven been trying to get this black out ( as many of you know) and I am gettin discouraged and I seriously considering bleaching it ...

Put the torches down... I haven't bought the BW 2 yet ( but can you tell im serious since I know the kind i am supposed to use...)

I have used Clairol luminize on 2 occasions (once with a 10 v dev an another time with a 30 v), Un Color, ColorOOps, Malibu color remover.... I use protein ever week and deep condition twice. I am thinking before i use the bleach i use a box color in the palest blonde and then wash it out when it lightens to a brown... not light just reg brown.

Any one has any suggestions before i try this... ( I wouldn't be doing it by myself... I am having a friend who is a member of another board assist me) and I would be doing an Aphogee treatment right after...

Please help

I dont have any answers but please be careful with your hair!

black is better than damaged :yep:

sun in is peroxide so thats a no go right? that was my first thought just using that and getting in the sun, but it would be very drying, but not worse than anything else your thinking of right?

what color are u tyring to get?

If much lighter u got to first boost the color up. Like go red first or brown u can even bring the volume developer up to about 40 or higher.

Or just get whatever color u want and make the developer higher than 40

I'm just telling u a safer route instead of bleaching. I hate bleach

Isis... you following me boo...

LOL

... It is very drying but I have used it when I was younger and it gave me a beautiful light auburn color and i deep condition when i was younger every week.

However I doubt that it will lift the black... I was thinking about Perfect 10 in pale blonde since its supposed to be safer...

Okay, easy then just use a higher developer. The one that usually comes in the box is only about a 20 u need to go higher. So u will need to by a seperate developer and use that one instead of the one that comes with in the box.

UH uh... its been that easy the whole time... i could slap myself...

do you kno anything about the miss clairol colors.... i was thinking about using them since so many people have had good results with them...

the clairol is your best bet!

it's relatively safe, and it'll get the black out over time. my hair's lightened about 5 shades since i started using it back in february, and ive done 5 separate applications; 1x a month.

going from a darker to a lighter color is VERY dangerous, and it isn't something that should be rushed. if you NEED to get the color out asap, i'd suggest seeing a color specialist. not ur regular, run of the mill stylist, but a stylist who's REALLY good with dealing with color.

Wow. I want a permanent Black color. What product did you use to get a Black shade that is hard to get rid of?

They are pretty good IMO.
But just be careful since u are doing it yourself. I wouldn't go higher then a 40 if I'm just getting brown or something in that family.
HTH.

I used Natural Instincts in Midnight... the one thats supposed to wash out in 28 washes... however they supposedly have a disclaimer saying that it is permanent.

I suggest using a level 2 color... a deep dark brown or a natural black... thats what i used to used and never had a problem... now this... aaargh

So, did the Color Oops or Uncolor remove anything? I too want to remove my black color and someone told me to use these.

thanks.

After you lift the color, you are probably going to need a brown color with more red to tone down the green. When you lift black, you get green undertones which can be toned with red to help neutralize them.

Nope didnt do anything at all... not a drop of black... maybe cause mine has been in so long... hopefully if yours is more recent it will come out

I have some Jazzing in brown from last July... it should still be good right:look:

i am dying to get the Natural Instincts Midnight out of my hair. I went and live-chatted with a Clairol rep and she said that sice their Midnight is darker than my natural haircolor that is why it stained and will not come out. She said that I would have to get it lifted professionally, basically the same things that I'm reading here. I'm too scared to try this "lifting" on my own so I will be calling the salon shortly.

Do several DC with Honey and heat. Do them often with either all honey or mostly honey. It is a natural peroxide and it will also add moisture. HTH

I would suggest you get professional help! Color correction is serious business are you sure that when you lift your color its going to lift to brown? My personal is experience is I had a black rinse in my hair.. tried to get color and my hair turned orange.

On this hair blog I read (zanandrob.com), Zan noticed that her hair colour was stripping really fast. When she did a bit of detective work to find out why, turned out it was the baking soda she had been using weekly to clarify. Maybe that's something that might work for you? The colour she had in was a plumy-purply red I think, but maybe it might work for a black also?

I've colored my hair with Natural Instincts Midnight and developer (even the stronger ones) wouldn't lift it. I had to bleach. Luckily, my hair is natural and could handle it. Good luck.

NikStar did you get it bleached professionally or did you try it yourself? i'm having the same problem. I'mready for a change but I can't get the Natural Instincts out.

Yep. I did it myself. I just made sure not to try to achieve too light of a shade and leave the bleach on too long. =Because of using henna in the past, instead of lifting to a shade in the brown family, it turned red (haha). So I just lifted to a deep reddish color and wore it like that all summer.

OH, but now I'm back to black. That black is addictive. I used a dark brown semi-perm (but it looks black). I'm hoping it may not "stick" as much as a true black shade so that in the future if I want to lighten again, I may not have to use bleach--just developer. We'll see.

Maybe it's a stupid idea but what happens if you henna on top? I guess it will stay black but when the sun hits it there will be a red hue. (body art quality 100% natural henna only, to avoid bad surprises). but maybe it isn't what you are looking for.

If her hair is TRULY black, a "red hue" won't even show up.
