Okay, a little back story....
My sister (the one that is getting married) has very black, 3b/4a/4b, resistant hair. In high school my sister would flat iron it every morning and she still had no problem growing out her hair. She would also relax her hair, blow dry it and color it all in the same hour. Even then no problems. Well fast foward to today.
My sister still has nice hair but she suffers from spots of breakage, lots of shedding, split ends, and lots of dryness. I helped her awhile ago switch up her styles which helped with the breakage but she was still having issues. Well, she came down this weekend to meet with the rest of the bridesmaids and get the dresses figured out and what not so I said let me do you hair.
Y'all, I saved the day. I gave her the mother of all conditioning treatments.
First I dampened her hair and drenched it with alma oil. I put on two plastic caps and wrapped her hair in a damp towel. This stayed in for about an hour.
I rinsed and shampooed her with Aveda Damage Remedy shampoo twice. She had a couple of dry spots on her scalp so I put a dab of tea tree oil on those spots. I then whipped out the Duo Tex and let that soak in for 15 minutes. (Trust me she needed it). We rinsed that out and followed with Aubreys GPB conditioner for about 10 minutes. I then rinsed that out and used pantene breakage defense mask. I sat her under a dryer for nearly an hour. I rinsed that out and Voila!! I turned breaking, dry, brittle hair, into soft, smooth and strong hair. I gave her a rollerset with big purple rollers and used a little chi silk infusion and flat ironed just the back. All the while I was doing her hair I was giving her lessons on protein/moisture balance, how to select products, pre pooing with conditioner and oils, henna, what products to try, heat protectants, proper flat iron selection and technique, and protective styling.
She really seemed to listen and she asked me to write out a list of what she should try.
