Girl, some days I still want to relax:wallbash:

I aint' neva..neva eva eva neva eva going back to relaxing. It ain't going to happen.

If I want have straight hair..I am just going to get presses on the regular and keep up a flat iron hot tools arsenal. Which I have the beginnings of, but I've only straightened my hair once in 3 years of being natural.

I am not going back to relaxing mainly because it is a chemical. Just not cool in my opinion for the scalp. Plus all the major praying I would do because I would start freaking out everytime I got a relaxer. Just like lord don't let this stuff take my hair out..dont' let it burn me etc hahahah. It was drama.

Good for you:grin: I need to be that sure, but I am just not at that point yet. I am a fairly new natural so I am still recovering from the creamy crack addiction:ohwell:
Now that I know more about hair, sometimes I feel like trying the relaxer again, but we will see:yep:

My advice...don't let any outside force determine what you want to do with your hair. Girl go with what ya know. You have many years ahead to relax and many yeas ahead to go natural. I am not using a relaxer to straighten just because of what I know about it as a chemical and my experiences with it. Years of being natural doesn't help one get to that that place...it's just apart of what one thinks abou relaxers.

I want to wear my hair straight sometimes, but I want to make sure it can go back to nappy. So I struggle between those to choices too. But, I dont' recall ever struggling between going back to the relaxer..but have waned to get my hair sraightened at a salon with a ceramic flat iron. I am going to do that too soon as I find a stylist that meets my qualifications.

mandy, what kind of flat iron/ products did you use

And I'm fighting the urge too, it's this stupid akward stage and being frustrated with breakage/knots. I know I don't want a relaxer, but sometimes I feel like I'd rather not have any hair at all so I won't have to deal with it.

Thank you so much for doing this. I am learning so much from this transition. I am hoping that I will be able to do roller sets just like I did on my relaxed hair.:yep:

I used a Sedu. In terms of products, I used a bit of Sabino before rollersetting( this is not the way it is normally used I don't think) and I used a bit more Sabino before flat ironing. I may have added some leave-in before rollerstting too, but I don't remember:ohwell:

Thanks. With the rollers I used, it was pretty easy. It took a long time because my hair is not that long yet and some of it was getting caught in the teeth of the rollers, but this should not be a problem once my hair is longer and I don't have to deal with it shrinking so much.
