I Never Knew My Hair Could Do This...(with pic)

Okay, I'll start. Then, I'd love to hear what discoveries other naturals have enjoyed since coming to LHCF.

I was inspired by someone who did a tutorial about natural roller sets. Now, I have natural 4a fine hair, so I was always a bit hesitant in trying any style to try to relax my curl. However, her coaching inspired me. Today I pretreated with Rene Furterer Complex 5 (great stuff, gives my scalp tingles), and then I just RF straightening gel and curled my soaking wet hair with magnetic rollers. My hair came out fantastic! It was smooth and curly, like after a press and curl. Best thing about it--no heat. My hair even bounced and was super shiny and healthy looking. Take a look at the attached picture and let me know what you think.

Let's keep this going and learn from each other. What styles were you hesitant to do before joining this forum? Do tell!

twists and locs, because I thought that it would look strange on me, but I was was very pleased with the twist hairstyle.

Thanks so much for posting this.
I'm so interested in this technique.
I've tried curling my natural hair, to no avail, but then, I didn't put it in pony tails or anything.
Want to give us a refresher on exactly how you did it? (or just pm me. lol)

Okay, I will reply openly so everyone will have a chance to try it:

1. Shampoo and deep condition (be careful not to use anything heavy. In the end, we need lots of shine and movement.

2. Afterwards, I used rene furterer's (can you tell I'm loving her? :spinning:) detangling leave-in spray and then brush manageable sections with my denman brush and then pull them taut with no-break hair scrunchis.

3. Rolling: You need a good spray bottle because you'll use lots of water. Then I put a little of Dr. Hauschca's neem oil just for good measure.

4. Use a good-quality fine tooth comb to part, section and smooth each section, and make sure the ends are smooth.

5. Curl using magnetic curlers. Take the tip of your ends and wrap it from the bottom up to create a spiral. (This is very important, so you don't end up with grandma's curls!)

6. With each curl, make sure you hair are wet and smoothed down against the roller as much as possible to get a smooth shiny finish.

7. Then, just air dry. You can use a hooded dryer, but why? :ohwell:
